People & Blogs

Introduction

Hello video editors, I am Sali Ali, and welcome to Solid Tutorials. In this video, I will show you three different ways to remove and change the background of a video in Filmora. We will cover using a green screen, removing backgrounds without a green screen, and an online tool. If you are new to my channel, please subscribe. We hope this video is helpful for you, so don't forget to like it. Let's get started!

Method 1: Using a Green Screen Background

First, I have a green screen video. I will show you how to remove the background correctly and easily and also change the background. Drag and drop the video into the timeline. Let's see what this video looks like.

Sample Video

Select the video and click on the green screen tool.

Green Screen Tool

We'll need to adjust the settings, but before that, let's add a background video to the track below so we can adjust the green screen tool well. Add the background video to the track below, then double-click on the Green Screen Video above again. Within the green screen tool, increase the offset a bit. I set the offset to 0.09, but you can adjust it to your liking. Ensure both videos' lengths are equal.

Green Screen Adjustment

We have removed the green screen background and made the necessary setting adjustments. Now the background has changed.

Method 2: Without Green Screen Background

The second method is to change the background of the video without the green screen. The condition for this method is that the background in your video must be of one color. You can remove and change any color background. For example, I have a video with an orange background. Let's remove and change the background of this video. First, add a background video to the track below and split and delete the extra part.

Crop Video

You'll see that this video needs to be cropped to ensure the ratio format of both videos is equal. After cropping, select the video above and click on the green screen tool. Inside the green screen tool, select the Picker tool and click on the video background on the display screen. The background will be removed, but further adjustments are needed, like increasing the tolerance and adjusting the edge thickness. I set the tolerance to 75 and the edge thickness to -0.71. We have correctly adjusted the settings for this video. With that, we removed the background and changed it without a green screen.

Method 3: Using an Online Background Removal Tool

The third method is using a great online background removal tool. Open any browser (I use Chrome) and search for "theonscreen.com upload". Open the website, and you will have a screen like this:

Online Tool

Upload your video to remove the background. You can drag and drop directly from your folder or click the Upload button. Select the video from your folder and click Open. Sometimes you'll be asked to fill a captcha; follow the instructions.

Once the background of the video is removed, click the Download button. The video will go through compositing and encoding, then it'll be ready for download. After downloading, drag and drop it into Filmora along with a background video. Equalize the lengths of both videos in the timeline.

Video Editing

So, we have shown you three ways to remove and change the video background regardless of the video's complexity. Hopefully, these methods will help you in your video editing endeavors.
