6 New Animations in Canva You' ll Love!

Education

Introduction

Cana has just launched six new animations that will make your videos and presentations more dynamic and engaging. Let's explore these exciting new features together!

Important Information

Before diving into the details of these animations, it's essential to note that they are only available for specific document types: presentations, social media posts, and videos. To access these animations, you'll need to be in the Canva editor. As an example, I'm currently working on a presentation.

These new animations are designed specifically for videos and images. In my current setup, I have a video with a gradient background, which is crucial for achieving the same effect that I’ll demonstrate.

Accessing the Animations

To use these animations, select your video and click on the "Animate" option. You will find the six new animations listed under the "Featured" category.

These animations are:

  1. Brush
  2. Ink
  3. Flow
  4. Spray Painting
  5. Sketch
  6. Gradient

The animations are free to use, but if you want to change their styles, you will need a Canva Pro account. Each animation comes with various styles. For instance, the Brush animation has styles like Curve, Wild, Dip, and Swirl.

Detailed Animation Breakdown

  1. Brush: This animation can be applied either at the start or end of your video, and you can select the style you prefer.
  2. Ink: This animation comes upward by default.
  3. Flow: Moves to the left.
  4. Bloom: Emerges from the middle of the image.
  5. Splut: Offers a unique effect as well.
  6. Digital: Comes from the center or can move to the right.

Spray Painting has two styles: Messy (default) and Letters. Whereas Sketch offers four styles: Fill, Swipe, Scratch, and Squiggle, which is particularly fun. Lastly, Gradient has three styles: Circular, Blocks, and Lines.

Among these, I find the Gradient animation to have a more corporate feel. Which one resonates with you the most?

Creating with New Animations

Now, let's learn how to apply these creative animations. I will show you how to replicate what I've done in the initial presentation by creating a new page. First, I will copy the gradient background and add the product image, rounding the corners for style.

I’ll then duplicate the image for a layered effect and apply a dual-tone effect to the image in the background. Selecting one of the six new animations—let's say, Sketch with a Scratch style—will create a captivating animation.

You can leave it as it is or add text on top to enhance your design.

To reiterate my earlier simple examples using the new animations:

  • Street Art Image: I applied the Spray Painting animation for cohesion with the gradient background.
  • Elegant Image: I added a Gradient animation to complement the color scheme.
  • Dark Image: Using the Ink animation brings a dynamic touch.
