Formulas to write a STRONG HOOK to start your video

Mistake number two is that your script doesn't have a clear hook. Now on YouTube, the first 30 seconds are extremely important for viewer retention. The reason for that is because YouTube counts one view if somebody watches 30 seconds of your video. So, the purpose of the hook is to get people to watch the first 30 seconds of your video. I have some formulas that I actually use in my script writing process for writing a great hook, and those formulas are that the hook can either be a question, a bold statement, an interesting fact or statistic, or you can start with a compelling story. These are four formats that I found work pretty much across all niches and categories on YouTube.

Let's come back to our example of the green tea script and think about what would be an example of a great hook that you can say in the first 30 seconds. So, first, I'm going to give you an example.

Example Hook:

"Did you know that drinking green tea can boost your metabolism by up to 4%? Imagine the impact this simple habit could have on your weight loss goals. Stay tuned to discover more surprising benefits of green tea that you might not have known about!"

I hope this example demonstrates how you can use one of the four formulas to create a compelling hook for your videos.
