Good evening everyone! By the time you're reading this, it's going to be evening as well, because right now it's 5:30 and I'm in a hotel room, not my usual filming spot. But I'm super excited because I'm meeting a friend tomorrow to help her with an art walk. Bri from Documented Journey, you guys know I'm obsessed with her journal covers and pen cases. We have a collaboration coming up in December, and I wanted to give you a teaser of what's to come. The collaboration includes a gorgeous pattern called "December Forest". So stay tuned for that!
Now, let's talk about my second week of Preptober. I'll show you what has changed, where I'm at, and the things I've been working on. One of the main changes is that I've decided to go back to the pages of Ruby and tell Ruby's story. I added some red splatters to represent Ruby, as she was born in July. This novel is sacred and spicy, and I'll be using a pen name for it.
I picked up a book by Emma Bennett, a YouTuber and author, called "Write Eat Sleep Repeat: 30 Days of 50,000 Words - How to Win NaNoWriMo". It's a resourceful book that walks you through what NaNoWriMo is, different ways to plot your novel, and how to improve your word count. I found it helpful for my writing process.
I also added some printables to my bullet journal and started working on it. I have a self-care bingo list on page 232. I also went back to my bullet journal from last year, where I had outlined the pages of Ruby. I printed out the Snowflake Method, a method I love for plotting, and I plan to use it for this project.
Two big changes for me in week two are that I decided to handwrite the pages of Ruby, and I'm using tarot cards for inspiration. Handwriting allows me to choose my words more intentionally, like writing a poem. As for tarot, one of my main characters becomes a tarot reader, so I'll be using tarot cards to guide my writing process. I'm using the Darkwood Tarot deck specifically for Ruby.
In my bullet journal, I'm using the Tombow Food and Non-Food Pen for titles, the Hobonichi Black pen for writing, and another Tombow marker for highlighting. I also used an AI character creator to help me visualize and create my characters.
That's a summary of all the changes and inspiration from my week two of Preptober. I'm excited about the progress I've made and the direction my novel is taking. Stay tuned for more updates!
