RANKING EVERY EDITING SOFTWARE

Education

Introduction

There are countless video editing apps available, and it can be challenging to determine which ones are the best and which ones fall short. In this article, we will rank different editing software on a tier list, from S (the highest) to F (the lowest). To accurately evaluate each app, we will put them through the ultimate editing test. Let's dive in!

After Effects (S Tier)

Starting off with After Effects, a popular and highly versatile app. We'll begin by adding some movement to the video with zoom effects. After adjusting the graphs to make it smoother, we'll further enhance the edit by adding shakes using the "twitch" effect. To improve the overall quality, we'll apply color correction and add twixtor for slow-motion effects. After completing the edit, I would give After Effects a perfect 10 out of 10. The interface is user-friendly, and the final result looks excellent.

Light Motion (A Tier)

Next up, we have Light Motion, a mobile editing app. Although I'm not experienced in mobile editing, I decided to give it a try. After importing the clips, I started adding effects, beginning with movement and shakes. Light Motion's interface was a bit confusing, but with some trial and error, I managed to create a decent edit. Despite its limitations, Light Motion performed well for a mobile editing app. Considering its mobile capabilities, it deserves a spot in Tier A, alongside After Effects.

Premier Pro (B Tier)

Moving on to Premier Pro, a popular editing program. As I have prior experience with Premier Pro, the process was relatively straightforward. After importing the clips and adjusting their order, I applied zoom effects and shakes. Premier Pro's features are similar to After Effects, but for these types of edits, After Effects offers a better result. While Premier Pro is a great program overall, if the goal is to create similar edits, I would recommend After Effects instead. Therefore, Premier Pro falls into Tier B.

Cap Cut (C Tier)

Lastly, we have Cap Cut, a widely used mobile editing app. Despite its popularity, Cap Cut has limitations when it comes to creating complex editing effects. While it offers zoom, shake, and blur effects, they are not as customizable as in other software. Cap Cut's editing process was simplified and user-friendly, making it suitable for beginners. However, the final result was not as impressive as with other apps. Therefore, Cap Cut lands in Tier C.
