Howto & Style

Achieve Flawless Image Background Removal with These Tools

In this article, I will share with you four different tools and methods for removing the backgrounds from images. Let's get started!

1. Remove.bg

The first tool I'm going to show is Remove.bg. When you get there, you don't even have to log in or sign up. Just click Upload Image, select your image, and it does its work.

I found Remove.bg to be very reliable and effective in removing backgrounds. If it makes mistakes, you can go in and do some edits. You can erase parts of the image that should have been erased but weren't, and you can also restore parts of the image that shouldn't have been removed but were.

When you're happy with the results, just click Download and you'll get a copy of this image on your computer that you can use in your projects.

For example, in Microsoft Word, you could insert an image of a mountain, and then insert the picture that you just downloaded from Remove.bg. With some minor adjustments, you can place the person on the mountain peak seamlessly.

2. Pixlr.com

Another alternative to Remove.bg is Pixlr.com. It's a photo editor with other distinct and useful features, one of them being the Remove Background tool.

It works very similar to Remove.bg. Just click to select photos without signing up or logging in. After uploading, it presents results quite similar to Remove.bg. You can click Save to download the edited image to your computer.

3. Adobe Express

Adobe Express has both a free and a paid version. Once signed into your account, you can navigate to the quick actions and choose Remove Background.

Upload your image, and Adobe Express does its work. You can further customize the image, place it in front of other images, and download the final product.

4. PowerPoint

Modern versions of Microsoft PowerPoint offer a built-in solution under the Picture Format tab. After inserting your image, select it, and click Remove Background. It will highlight areas to remove in purple.

If the results are imperfect, there are options to fine-tune by marking areas to remove or keep. Once satisfied, choose Keep Changes. To use this image elsewhere, go to File > Save As, and save the image in JPEG or PNG format.

This same feature is available in Microsoft Word, making it versatile for various document types.
