The AI Trend: A Cautionary Tale

The latest trend in AI involves uploading a series of your photos to a questionable website or application. In return, you receive hyper-realistic images that sort of resemble you but with a twist. The results, however, can be a mixed bag, as I've recently discovered.

I decided to give this AI trend a shot. The images I received were, to put it mildly, subpar. Some were almost decent, but there was always something off. For instance, what is that thing sticking out of my head in one of the images? It clearly does not match my facial structure or anything I'd wear, let alone the representation of me in a tank top. Although I did find one image somewhat likable, the overall experience was underwhelming.

It almost feels like the AI has a preference for generating male avatars over female ones. I'm willing to bet a considerable amount of money that the AI program was likely created with a male-centric design algorithm.

One of the generated images showed me holding something in an awkward angle, as if it had gone through a cheese grater or a shredder. And don't even get me started on the footwear – it was a complete mess!
