Observations on Change
As we delve deeper, let's consider a thought-provoking image in which we see a teacher in the background while students interact with a humanoid bot. It signifies how classrooms and learning environments are transforming with technological advancements. As all participants are engaged in this new learning experience, we must acknowledge the changing dynamics in educational settings.
Course Overview
A warm welcome to all! My name is Nellie Deutsch, and I come with over 40 years of teaching experience in various educational sectors. I have a doctorate in education and have been deeply involved in the application of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) since 1992. This course is designed to harness the power of emerging and innovative technologies in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
Throughout this course, we aim to combine learner autonomy, exploratory video, peer-based learning, and mindfulness to enhance the learning experience. I will be guiding you through several essential aspects of this program, leading to an enriching collaborative learning atmosphere.

Emotional Engagement in Online Learning
Learning online can be an emotional experience, with feelings of anxiety and frustration sometimes accompanying the excitement of learning new tools. It is important to foster a supportive environment where everyone can share their questions and concerns freely. Remember that there are no stupid questions, and we all learn best when we share our experiences with each other.
Technology and Support
Technical support is key in the online learning realm. Don’t hesitate to reach out for assistance, and remember that making mistakes is a crucial part of the learning journey. We will also introduce a variety of tools that facilitate our activities, such as Canva, Google Classroom, and various AI-driven applications.
Collaborative Learning
In this course, collaboration is highly encouraged. Engage with fellow participants by watching their videos, sharing your insights, and building a community of learning together. This collaborative approach will enhance everyone’s experience as we dive into the world of AI and EFL.
