One remarkable feature I truly love is the ability to record over AI speech. Sometimes, I write a script directly in Descript and add visuals as I proceed, similar to storyboarding, and utilize an AI speech version of myself or a stock speaker to create a rough draft.

Traditionally, video creation involves compartmentalizing tasks: writing the script in one document and storyboarding in another—often setting up a table or something similar to outline visuals. However, what sets Descript apart is its ability to break these traditional barriers between pre-production, production, and post-production.

With Descript, you can simultaneously work on post-production and visual layouts as you write. This includes creating a scratch visual. Once your visuals and draft are ready, you can record your camera over the initial work. The software will transcribe what you’ve said, aligning this transcript with the corresponding visuals, and positioning all layout changes properly.

Despite its transformative capabilities, we haven’t done a great job of making this feature super obvious within the app. This is one of the reasons I like to highlight it—because it significantly optimizes and transforms the workflow.
