ALDI VS LIDL PARKSIDE TOOLS & UNIQUE JAR STORAGE IN MY WORKSHOP ⚒️?

Introduction

In this video, I delve into the exciting world of DIY projects as I create a unique storage device for jars, perfect for organizing screws, nuts, bolts, and other hardware. Alongside this, I explore some new tools I've picked up from ALDI, which I'm thrilled to compare with the popular Parkside range from LIDL.

The Jar Storage Project

Glass jars have been a staple for thousands of years, commonly used for preserving food and recycling materials. Inspired by my friend Reggy on YouTube, I decided to embark on a project to create an organized space for my collection of jars, mainly sourced from Tesco and filled with various DIY items.

I planned to maximize the limited space in my workshop shed by designing a storage solution that would efficiently hold up to 24 jars without intruding on the room above. Aiming to create individual slots for each jar, I began with a piece of timber from B&Q. Although I initially intended to use pallet wood, I resorted to this standard timber measuring 90 mm wide.

To construct the storage device, I employed a 76 mm hole saw with my pillar drill. After clamping the wood securely to my workbench, I carefully measured the placement of holes to ensure proper spacing and alignment. Throughout this process, I encountered various mishaps, including incorrect measurements and having to repeat certain steps. Nonetheless, I pushed through the challenges, sharing the ups and downs to provide a realistic depiction of DIY work.

Once I drilled all the necessary holes, I secured the timber into place in my shed, ensuring it wouldn’t fall and that each jar would have a dedicated place, making it easy to retrieve them. Additionally, I considered enhancing visibility by adding a strip light over the storage area and thought about numbering each jar for easy identification.

New Tools from ALDI

As part of my exploration, I also shared my recent finds from ALDI. Among these were two sets of speed clamps. The ALDI clamps, priced at £6.99 for two, seemed to be a great contender against the Parkside variants I had previously purchased for £5.99 for two. I found the ALDI clamps to be significantly sturdy, with a better trigger mechanism than the Parkside ones.

Beyond the clamps, I acquired a variety of tools for upcoming projects, including paint brushes for painting the stairs, adjustable locking pliers, and robust hinges for a future arcade emulator casing. Each tool was reasonably priced, making it easier to stock my workshop with quality equipment without breaking the bank.
