Are You Eligible for Twitter Ad Revenue Sharing?

    blog thumbnail

    Introduction

Hello friends, Jameson here with a bit of a different post this time. This one's going to be about Twitter and its Creator ad sharing. How do you know if you qualify for a cut of the action on Twitter when you tweet something that gets millions of impressions and Twitter puts ads in the replies below your tweet? How do you qualify to get some of that revenue as payment for your creation of good tweets or original content? I will answer that question after offering breakfast to Loki because this is also an episode of "Breakfast with my co-host Loki."

Let's start by grabbing breakfast for him, and Loki will either come over and enjoy his breakfast soon or he'll wait and eat later. Either way, you can keep an eye on Loki in the Loki's bed cam right here below me.

First, let's summarize the updated Twitter ad revenue sharing program, well encapsulated by Tesla news junkie Sawyer Merritt, who recently passed 500,000 Twitter followers. Sawyer tweeted: "Twitter has made a slight change to the Creator ads revenue sharing program. Instead of requiring 5 million impressions per month in each of the last three months, Twitter will require you to have at least 15 million total Impressions on your posts within the last three months."

This means if you have a viral post that gets 13 million impressions and you only got one million impressions in the prior two months, you're still eligible. You don't need lots and lots of tweets and you don't need to hit home runs every month for three months straight to qualify anymore.

Sawyer provided a great summary of the new rules, so thanks to him. Now let's look at how to track your eligibility.

    Checking Your Twitter Analytics

To check your analytics, go to twitter.com/i/account_analytics. Here, you'll see a brief summary of your analytics over the previous seven days. For example, I had two million impressions, a 5.7% engagement rate, and several other metrics.

If you click on the button in your summary, it directs you to a more detailed page that shows a 28-day summary. This includes metrics like total impressions, profile visits, mentions, and followers. You can also see your top tweets and media.

For example, my top tweet in July was a meme about Tesla, and Elon Musk replied to it, driving up the impressions.

    Data Export and Analysis

You can export your data for further analysis. After exporting, I created a cumulative total and daily impressions table in Excel. This gives a detailed breakdown of your impression data.

For instance, here's how my data looked:

    • March: Impressions - consistently good.
    • April: Spiked impressions, probably due to Elon Musk's interactions.
    • June: Dropped under 5 million under the old rule.
    • July: A good headstart toward the 15 million rolling three-month minimum.

    Eligibility and Payments

From my analysis, I qualify for ad revenue sharing. Despite this, I have received zero dollars in payment so far. The policy was only recently changed, so perhaps payments may come later.

    Conclusion

So there you go! That's how you can determine if you're eligible for Twitter ad revenue sharing. Keep an eye on your impressions and use the updated rolling three-month total of 15 million impressions to see if you qualify.
