Creating Your GPT: Click on the option to create a GPT, which opens up the GPT Builder interface.

Configuring Your Custom GPT

Once you are in the GPT Builder interface, let’s go through the key steps of configuring your custom GPT:

Name and Description: First, give your GPT a name and provide a description to define its purpose.
Upload an Image: Optionally, you can upload a picture of your GPT or allow it to autogenerate one for you.
Instructions: The most crucial part is writing the instructions for how your GPT should behave. This will define its interactions, knowledge base, and guidelines.

For effective instructions, I follow the ROADS framework:

Role: Define the kind of expert your GPT will be.
Objective: Clearly state your GPT's goal.
Details: Provide specific guidelines for operation.
Examples: Give concrete examples of how your GPT should respond.
Sense Check: A final confirmation to ensure the GPT understands its role.

Refining and Testing Your GPT

After you’ve set up your GPT, it’s crucial to test and refine it to ensure it performs as intended. This involves:

Preview Interactions: Use the preview panel to see how it responds to different queries.
Analyze Performance: Evaluate if it provides accurate information and follows your given instructions.
Make Adjustments: Based on your analysis, tweak instructions or add more knowledge.

Creating a custom GPT is an ongoing process; don’t be discouraged if it doesn't work perfectly at first! Each interaction and refinement will improve its performance.

Publishing Your Custom GPT

Once you're satisfied with your custom GPT’s performance, it's time to publish it. Here's how:

Review Settings: Go through all settings and instructions one last time.
Click Create/Update: In the upper right corner of the interface, click the create or update button.
Choose Sharing Setting: You have three options: Private, Limited (share an access link), or Public (anyone can find and use your GPT).
Launch: Click launch, and your custom GPT is ready for use!
