Building A YouTube - Day 7: Editing
Introduction
Today, we are going to dive into the editing phase of our video creation journey. Yesterday we filmed the entire day, and now, on Day 7, it's time to edit what we've captured. I personally use Adobe Premiere for editing, but you can use any software that suits your needs such as Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or iMovie. There are many options available.
Getting Started with Editing
Firstly, I've gone ahead and loaded all my footage into my project area. Here, you can see a collection of clips from the whole day. Along with the clips, I also have an audio track. I generally get my background music from Epidemic Sound, but you can also find free music on YouTube and various other platforms.
Building Your Project
To start editing, bring your clips over to the timeline and begin building your project. At this stage, you'll likely have a combination of longer and shorter clips aligned to match your music track. It's crucial to spend time rearranging and tweaking these clips until you're satisfied with the storyline.
Advanced Techniques
Once you have your initial sequence laid out, you can start thinking about adding more complex edits like fades and other effects. We will delve deeper into advanced editing techniques tomorrow, where we can refine our project further.
