Change Font Menu Preview Size in After Effects

In today's guide, I'm going to teach you how to change the font preview menu size in Adobe After Effects CC 2023. If you find that your eyesight isn't what it used to be and want the font menu to be a little bit larger for better visibility, this tutorial is for you. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Navigate to the top menu and click on After Effects Settings.
  2. Select the Type option.
  3. In the Type menu, look for an option called Font Menu Preview Size.
  4. Click the drop-down menu next to Font Menu Preview Size, which is probably set to Small by default.
  5. Change this setting to Extra Large.
  6. Click OK to confirm the changes.

Please note: You may need to quit and reopen After Effects for the changes to come into effect.

Once you reopen After Effects, select a text layer. When you access the character panel or the properties panel, you'll notice that the font preview is now nice and big, making it much easier to see.

Cheers, Mike Murphy
