Crochet Retreat Vlog Recap - What I Crocheted This Week

Howto & Style

Introduction

Hey friends! Welcome or welcome back to my cozy crochet channel. My name is Stacy, and I’m excited to share with you all the delightful happenings from our recently held crochet retreat, which I’ve been eagerly discussing since April or May. This week's video may be a bit delayed, but it's packed with a special recap of the retreat, covering the projects I made before leaving, the fun activities during the retreat, sneak peeks of what others created, and finally, a glimpse into future retreats.

Pre-Retreat Creations

Before heading to the retreat, I made quite an array of crochet items to prepare. I focused on my inventory and kept a list to stay organized. Here’s a brief rundown of some of the projects I worked on:

  • Fred the Turtle: Using Bernat blanket yarn and modifying CJ Design's pattern.
  • Malards: I created three little malards and have plans to explore different malard patterns.
  • A Duck: Similar to malards, I used the same pattern to craft a vibrant duck.
  • Bobble Christmas Tree: One outer piece for a festive creation.
  • Poggy’s Place Mice: I crafted one mouse and five keychains (still needing chains).
  • Stingray and Ice Cream Cones: I made one stingray and three colorful ice cream cones.
  • Tumbler: One tumbler also made before the retreat.
  • Hatching Chicks: I made two using the Louis and Bird pattern.
  • Additionally, I designed a mystery pattern called the "Momento Monster," which participants took home as a keepsake.

Among my creations before departure, I also made Chompers the Alligator from K’s Crochet Critters. Overall, I earned $ 189 for just four days of creativity.

The Retreat Experience

As the retreat approached, excitement built as we headed to Central Kentucky's Rough River Lake Area—a place I had never been to before. The retreat's idea sparked from my desire for a crochet getaway, and my husband encouraged me to make it happen. Much to my delight, the response was overwhelming; I was thrilled to welcome other friendly crocheters.

I organized a weekend filled with crochet fun, arranged for donations from various sponsors, and set up a welcoming environment. Each day was filled with laughter, creativity, and a warm community spirit. Attendees received various door prizes, including crochet kits and unique yarn samples, enhancing the overall experience.

Despite my initial anxieties about whether everyone would get along, the retreat turned out to be a joy! I was genuinely heartened by the interactions among participants.

Creativity During the Retreat

Now, let's talk about what I made during the retreat! Over the weekend, I was actively crocheting while facilitating activities and meals:

  • Another Fred the Turtle: This one was in a cute birch and baby pink combo.
  • Momento Monster: An example made for others to follow.
  • Swinging Animals: I crafted four swinging critters including a cardinal, a pocket frog, and more.
  • Pepper the Skunk: I made two versions from my original pattern.
  • Rubber Ducks: I created four rubber ducks in different hues.

In total, my creations at the retreat amounted to $ 249. Adding this to my pre-retreat earnings, I was quite pleased with the overall weekly total—$ 438!

Upcoming Retreats

I plan to host more retreats in the future and will take feedback into account—from lighting and seating arrangements to scheduling that might better facilitate relaxation and creativity. I hope many of you will consider joining in the next one, which I aim to organize for February or March of next year.

Thank you to all the generous sponsors who contributed items, prizes, and greatly enhanced our experience. It was a truly enriching weekend filled with creativity, and I can't wait to do it all over again!
