DALL-E 3 Tutorial: Tips for Creating Stunning AI Images (2024)
Science & Technology
Introduction
Have you ever tried to create images and loved what you created except for one thing and you weren't sure how to edit it? Or you wanted to experiment with different styles but didn't know how? You're not alone. Today, I'll show you how to overcome these challenges with ChatGPT and DALL-E 3. I'll demonstrate how to fix common image issues and experiment with different styles, using these powerful tools. The best part is these tools offer free limited access. So let's get started!
Last week, I found a stray little kitten. She's a brown tabby and white kitten. Let's start with a brown tabby and white kitten in space and see what happens. From there, we'll explore ways to edit this image.
Here's our cute little brown tabby and white kitten in space. There are a couple of ways we can edit it. Clicking on the image reveals two tools: the paintbrush (a little swirly thing) and a chat option. Your previous images are stored as well. Let’s change something:
- Grab the paintbrush tool.
- Adjust the size and highlight the part you want to remove. Let's highlight and erase a planet in the background.
After clicking erase and hitting enter, the planet is gone! You might have a tiny remnant left, easily fixable by highlighting it more accurately. The built-in tool is great, though I sometimes use Canva for major edits. The effect here is surprisingly good.
Next, let's try adding new elements:
- Again, use the paintbrush tool to highlight a space.
- Add "Earth" to see how it appears.
Unfortunately, this time, it didn't work. Sometimes AI-generated elements take a few tries. Let’s add a text bubble:
- Highlight the area.
- Use the command "add bubble with hello world."
It works, but it changes the image a lot, introducing extra colors. AI is getting better at text.
Finally, try expanding the image:
- Command "change to a wide image."
The results are impressive. Despite a few changes each time, the AI added elements like thought bubbles and even repositioned the planet Earth in a version.
Now, let’s explore different art styles using a custom GPT created by ChatGPT:
- Open the sidebar.
- Go to "Explore GPTs" and search for DALL-E.
- Start a chat, and you'll see different art styles such as Victorian, low polygon, Dutch angle, high contrast, synthwave, concept art, and more.
You can also change aspect ratios to square, widescreen, or vertical. Let’s admire some duck images I created earlier in various styles like low polygon, retro, electronics, dystopian, woodcut, polished stone, ink wash, mirrored glass, and many more.
You can create unique styles like ducks made of fire, lava, ice, neon light, and even storybook styles. You can also edit elements just as we did with the kitten. Analysis reveals AI studies art to create art; hence, pencil sketches often show pencils.
Whether you're editing or experimenting, AI tools offer immense potential for creativity. Try them, share your creations, and watch how AI art continues to evolve.
