Day 4 - Building A Supplement Brand in Public - (Logo, AI, Branding, Color Palettes)
People & Blogs
Introduction
Welcome to Day 4 of my journey in building a supplement brand in public. Yesterday, I was unable to post an update due to some unexpected circumstances. My coach, who often stays with me, had to leave the country urgently and couldn’t find accommodation for a few days, so I’m hosting him at my place. With the apartment in a bit of a mess, I’m taking some free time now to focus on the project.
Yesterday, I shared an interview with someone at the gym who does online coaching. Today, our main goal is to delve into branding and marketing strategy. I’ll be sharing my screen to walk through the process of creating a brand name, designing a logo, and selecting a color palette.
Finding a Name and Logo
Starting today, I intend to expedite the process since we’re tight on time. I typically use Fiverr for logo design if I have a small budget, where you can get a logo crafted based on your brand's details. For those on a more limited budget, I often use a website called Luca, a business name generator. You can input your company name and get a fantastic logo or even various name suggestions based on your industry.
Let’s explore how it works. Since I’m targeting the supplements industry with a focus on female customers, the name needs to be easy to pronounce and relatable. For example, I entered a few variations, and “Live Vitamins” caught my attention initially, although the domain wasn’t available. I explored options like "La Vitamins" but found the American version was also taken.
Eventually, I stumbled upon "Nutri Mount" and checked its availability on OVH, a reliable domain hosting site. “Nutri Mount” seemed interesting and I noted its domain availability.
Designing the Logo
To design the logo, I went to the logo generator and typed in “Nutri Mount,” specifying that it’s in the wellness industry, particularly targeting women interested in yoga. As I continued, I focused on pastel colors, as they resonate well in the supplement market compared to overly bright colors.
After experimenting with various palettes and designs, I found a logo that I liked. It was simplistic yet effective, combining typography and an icon relevant to wellness nutrition. Choosing colors is crucial, as they will appear on your website and packaging.
Typography
The typography also plays an important role. I was careful to select a font that appeals to women while being approachable. The chosen font and logo design will inform our packaging concepts in the future, particularly for potential merchandise like hats.
Final Touches
Once I had a preferred logo design (to serve as an example), I took note of the color palette for future reference, including the specific color numbers. Having a quality design is essential when you eventually produce marketing materials. For those who might not be familiar with design software, you can use online tools that offer free services to enhance logo quality and remove backgrounds.
If you’re looking for cost-effective logo options, check out Fiverr, where you can find various affordable designers ready to create logos tailored to your specifications.
Conclusion and Next Steps
As we wrap up Day 4, keep in mind I won't be able to post any updates over the weekend due to commitments with my friend. I’ll continue documenting my journey and will be back on Monday to tackle labeling and packaging. I look forward to sharing how we can incorporate the logo and branding into our product designs.
