Drafting Contracts with AI - AI Contract Drafting Tool

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well. Today, I want to discuss an AI contract drafting and review tool that I think is really cool and worth checking out. It's called Robin AI.

I heard about it a while ago, but they’ve recently added many impressive features, making it feel like AI on steroids. As the name implies, it’s software powered by AI that allows you to draft, review, query, and summarize documents much quicker than you traditionally can as an associate.

Because there are lots of features, today we’re going to focus on drafting. This is what the dashboard looks like when you log in. These features are free, so don’t hesitate to try them. The querying and drafting reviews, which are the most important features, are free. For querying, I've done a video about an AI application called Doc Analysis, which can also query and summarize documents for free. You can use that as well.

Getting Started with Drafting

Let's go to the Drafting section. Once you land on the drafting dashboard, it will list all the contracts you currently have available in your firm or personal database. You can create a new document from scratch and select certain features like the type of contract. Here’s where you'll go through Robin AI’s templates, or you can upload your own.

Using Pre-Uploaded Documents

Robin AI comes with pre-uploaded documents like supply agreements, work contracts, NDAs, and other standard documents. You can copy and paste clauses from saved clauses in your playbook (which is like your database of clauses). These can be clauses saved by other lawyers in your firm or ones you’ve saved from previous contracts.

Playbook Feature

Even new clauses that you've drafted and like can be saved for future tweaking. This makes drafting much quicker. Additionally, there's a tab feature similar to auto-fill in Word, which can autofill entire clauses.

Automating Contract Creation

To illustrate how automating contract drafting works, consider turning templates into forms. Let's say you have a standard NDA, and the only things you frequently change are the dates, names, and addresses. Robin AI allows you to highlight the sections you want to edit. When you put in today's date, it changes necessary features within the document. When you add a name, it automatically changes all instances of that name in the document.

You can also add things like governing law based on the state you’re in.

Custom Clauses

Another cool feature is adding clauses from your playbook. If you’ve written a clause that you like, you can save it to your playbook. This way, you can search for it and paste it directly into new documents, saving you the time of drafting the clause from scratch again. You can even save entire sections and then search and paste them.

Final Thoughts

That’s pretty much it for drafting. If you have any questions, please let me know. The next feature we will explore is contract review, which shares some overlapping features with drafting, such as the copy-paste functionality from the playbook. You can also use dummy contracts to access certain features if you're worried about limitations.
