drawing my OCs for the first time in months (TW: GAY PEOPLE)

Introduction

I recently sat down to draw my OCs after taking a long break, and it brought up a lot of thoughts and reflections along the way.

At the start of my stream, I had some audio issues, but eventually, I was able to settle in and start the drawing. I set up my workspace in a different location than usual, which made me a bit anxious because of potential Wi-Fi issues. However, I proceeded to color the background and frame, which I felt I had improved from my previous designs.

During the drawing process, I couldn't help but discuss the most recent music saga-aligned with my interests. I shared my mixed feelings about the "Wisdom Saga," mentioning how the pacing felt rushed and how some characters were given less musical attention than deserved. For instance, I was amazed by how Calypso only got a small feature compared to Cersei’s two and a half songs.

I then switched topics, dealing with the frustrations of drawing expressions, especially smiles. It’s often challenging to capture a genuine smile without it looking awkward. I also reminisced about my school days, including memories of my littered library and the limited book selection.

As I moved forward with the coloring process, I decided to experiment with my characters' color palettes and rendering techniques. I found joy in the rendering phase, realizing that it’s my favorite part of the process.

Reflecting on relationships in stories, I expressed my opinions on age gaps, emphasizing my discomfort with them in both real life and fiction. Surprisingly, I related some of these themes to historical narratives and characters from ancient myths. This led me into a comedic tangent about naming my future pets after characters from these stories.

Additionally, I spent time talking about my dream of creating a podcast inspired by narrative projects like "Olo" and how they influenced my creative journey. Despite my busy schedule filled with honors classes, I attempted to prioritize creative time while admitting I often let homework slide.

Towards the end of my session, I felt accomplished with my piece, although I acknowledged that I had to work on facial details that I didn’t like initially. I finally concluded my stream with excitement for lunch, secretly thinking about the half-cheesecake waiting for me in the fridge. Stream sessions like this remind me of the fun and challenges in balancing my interests and school life.
