Introduction
In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of creating a glitch effect in Adobe Premiere Pro using an adjustment layer with the VR Digital Glitch effect. Follow these steps to add a unique touch to your video.
Step 1: Create an Adjustment Layer
Begin by adding a clip to your timeline. To create a new adjustment layer, navigate to the top menu. Once you’ve created your adjustment layer, you can now proceed to the effects tab.
Step 2: Add the Glitch Effect
Search for the "VR Digital Glitch" effect in the effects tab. Drag and drop this effect onto your newly created adjustment layer. At this stage, you're already halfway to achieving the desired glitch look.
Step 3: Animate the Effect
Next, you'll need to animate the glitch effect to give it dynamic movement. Open the effects controls panel and locate the Distortion tab.
- Color Distortion: Increase the color distortion to around 75. This setting adds vibrant chaos to your effect.
- Distortion Rate: Adjust the distortion rate accordingly—set it to around 60 to control the intensity of the glitches.
- Distortion Evolution: Find the stopwatch next to Distortion Evolution and set your first keyframe here. Afterward, adjust your keyframes until you're satisfied with the glitch appearance.
Step 4: Add Master Amplitude
Next, navigate to the Master Amplitude settings. Click the stopwatch next to it, then move back three frames and set the amplitude to zero. At this point, your glitches will start appearing, but they might feel a bit unnatural.
Step 5: Fine-Tune the Effect
To enhance the natural feel of the glitches, add a transform effect to your adjustment layer. Scale up slightly to create some wiggle room.
- Position Animation: Again, tap the stopwatch next to Position. Go to your first glitch keyframe and set a starting position keyframe there.
- Randomize Position: Move one frame forward and slightly change the position. Repeat this process as desired. Feel free to add or remove keyframes to keep the movement looking random and organic.
By following these steps, you can create exciting glitch effects in Adobe Premiere Pro that will elevate the production value of your content!
