Welcome back to LT Design 97! In today’s tutorial, I, Mr. Tin, will guide you through the exciting new feature available in Canva: converting images to videos. Previously, Canva only allowed users to generate videos using prompts within the Magic Media tab. However, with the latest update, we can now create consistent videos from AI-generated images much more conveniently.

Understanding the New Function

In this session, we will learn how to utilize Canva AI to create consistent characters and generate high-quality character videos from existing images. This feature is particularly beneficial as it allows us to produce videos that maintain character consistency throughout various scenes.

Let's dive into the detailed practice:

  1. Access Canva: Navigate to canva.com. I recommend joining the Canva Pro trial, available through the link in the description below the video, to unlock advanced features.

  2. Open Magic Studio: From the home page, select the Magic Studio function.

  3. Activate Magic Media: Locate the 'Text to Image' function, which activates the Magic Media tool, and click "Try it".

  4. Set Up Your Project: For this project, resize the canvas to an aspect ratio of 16:9 and name your project. You are probably already familiar with Magic Media’s functionalities, which include creating images and videos from prompts. Today, we will focus specifically on creating images for our character and utilizing the new feature of converting photos to videos.

  5. Creating a Character: Use structured prompts to define your character’s identity, including name and physical description.

    Here’s an example of what to include:

    • Keywords describing the character’s identity
    • Physical attributes
    • Emotional states
    • Activities

  6. Define Style: Set the visual style to 3D Pixar Animation. Add background context keywords for a more immersive setting.

  7. Generating Images: With all elements in place, I copy the completed prompt into Magic Media to create the first character image.

    After several attempts, I choose the most fitting image and add it to the timeline.

  8. Video Conversion: The new function allows us to convert images into animation videos. To achieve this:

    • Select an appropriate image.
    • Click on the three vertical dots above the image, and choose the option to generate a video.

    Once the video is generated, create a new slide to insert the resulting video into the timeline for review.

  9. Results Evaluation: After testing this new feature, I find the video results to be impressive but with some room for enhancement. This development is an exciting step for Canva AI.
