Howto & Style
Introduction
Create Studio promises to make animation easy, but does it deliver? In this article, I will walk you through a detailed demo of creating an animated educational video for kids step by step using Create Studio. By the end, you'll see the results for yourself and determine if this software lives up to its promises.
Getting Started with Create Studio
Upon launching Create Studio, you’ll be greeted by the home screen, which presents various options to create videos like the one you see. For this tutorial, we will keep it simple by focusing on making an educational video, rather than diving into complex animations.
To begin, let’s click on New Project to initiate our video project.
The Create Studio Interface
The Create Studio interface consists of several components:
- Left Panel: Contains the menu and resources necessary for animation.
- Timeline: Located at the bottom, this allows you to manage your animations precisely.
- Settings and Resolution Options: Found on the right, these options enable you to customize your video’s resolution and other settings.
- Tools: Located at the top, these assist in moving objects around your canvas.
- Canvas: The central area where all your magic happens; you can resize these panels based on your workflow needs.
Setting the Resolution
To set your video resolution, click on Resolution and choose the size that fits your project. There are settings for standard videos, vertical formats, and even square videos for different social media platforms. For this demo, we will select YouTube Full HD.
Adding Characters and Backgrounds
Next, we want to add a friendly cartoon character to engage our audience. To do so, click on the Studio Menu and select 3D Creator to find customizable 3D characters. I will choose Zach for our project.
Once Zach is selected, navigate to the Settings Panel under the Customize tab to adjust his appearance as needed.
Now, we need a background. Click on the Studio Menu again, then select Backgrounds. Here, you can choose from a wide range of 2D and 3D backgrounds or create your own. For this video, I will create a simple rectangle and choose a gradient color for the background.
Creating Voiceovers
Now, let's create the voiceover. Create Studio permits recording directly in the software, uploading a pre-recorded file, or using the built-in text-to-speech feature. I will utilize Google Text-to-Speech for my narration.
First, we’ll add the narration text, select the language (which supports a variety), and choose the type of voice. After generating the voice, we can preview it and import it into our media panel.
Animating Our Character
With everything set up, it’s time to animate. First, select Zach and visit the Action Tab in the Settings Panel. We’ll change his idle action to Jump. Once we hit play, Zach will jump into the scene. We can add a Wave Action so he can wave at the kids.
Synchronizing the Voiceover
Let's add the voiceover to the timeline and synchronize it with Zach. Using the Cut Tool, we can trim the audio as needed. Right-click on the voiceover and select Sync with Zach. This will make his lips move in sync with the dialogue.
Adding Text and Effects
Next, we’ll add some engaging text that pops up when Zach mentions the alphabet. Click on the Plus Button to select Text and type in the word “alphabets”. Customize the font, adjust the color, and animate the text as desired, ensuring that it appears on screen when Zach speaks.
To make the video lively, I will also animate the letters so they scale. Finally, an exit animation will help the text to move off the scene smoothly.
Incorporating Graphics
To visually assist our lesson, I will add images like an apple when discussing the letter “A”. Create Studio allows searching for graphics and animated stickers to enhance the educational aspect of our video. This keeps kids engaged and interested.
Completing the Video
Arraying all voiceovers and actions on the timeline and adding effects will finalize the video. Once satisfied, we can export our project by saving it and clicking on Publish. From here, we can select the output quality and folder.
Conclusion
In this demo of Create Studio, we created an engaging educational video for kids using simple steps within the software. The possibilities are vast, from animated quizzes to interactive lessons.
