GIANT PREDATOR STATUES from Prime 1 Studio: City Hunter Review

    blog thumbnail

    Introduction

Today on the Extreme Channel, we're diving into an exciting review of the Prime 1 Studio's massive City Hunter Predator statue. As you can see, we're not at our regular table, so please bear with us with lighting and sound quality during this review.

Hello, my name is Mr. X and welcome to the Extreme Channel! I've got an exciting announcement: we're giving away statues worth $ 2,000 to our viewers. If you're interested in winning one, stick around for details later in the video!

Now, let's talk about this impressive $ 3,500 statue. This piece is from Prime 1 Studio, representing the City Hunter Predator from Predator 2. While I'm not a huge fan of the film itself, I have to admit the character design is iconic, and Prime 1 Studio has expertly brought it to life in this stunning statue. Previously, they released a smaller quarter-scale version that I owned, which allowed you to mount it on a wall—pretty cool for a quarter scale, but this one is a 1/3 scale representation, which appears a little larger than expected.

The Jungle Hunter Predator statue stands next to it as part of the ongoing line, with more versions on the way. If you enjoy these collectibles, be sure to like this video, subscribe to my channel, and hit the bell for notifications! For better visuals, be sure to check my social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, where I post updates and photos.

    Concept

Starting off with the concept, we see a similar black exterior to the museum-style base that was used with the Jungle Hunter. While it serves its purpose of encasing the statue well, I’m not a fan of its design. Instead of a themed environment, it features a spaceship design, which might not match everyone's taste. However, it does flow well overall with the statue and comes packed with Easter eggs and plenty of display options.

Moving upward, the realistic representation of the City Hunter features various weapons and traditional icons from the film. The pose is designed to look impressive and powerful, fitting for a character like the Predator.

For my concept rating, I’ll give it a 3 out of 5. It's not outstanding, but it's in line with what you would expect pricing-wise for a collectible of this value.

    Design

The design of this piece is outstanding and requires an in-depth look. One of the advantages here is that there’s minimal mixed media involved; most of the statue is fully sculpted. Unlike other brands that use leather components which may deteriorate, Prime 1 ensures longevity by avoiding such issues.

After unboxing and assembly, which I chose to complete in one go due to the statue's size, this piece measures approximately 25 inches wide, nearly 29 inches deep, and stands 36 inches tall without the staff—adding another 8 inches if you include it.

Prime 1 Studio's assembly illustrations have improved. While they’re not perfect, the details they provide help alleviate confusion during assembly due to the extensive display options available.

Here are some of the display options available for the statue:

    • Various proximity pieces can be arranged around the base.
    • Two nameplates—though I chose not to include them.
    • A spear tip and med pack can also be placed at various locations.
    • Multiple hand options including an open palm, holding his portable respirator, and different blades.

Moving up to the upper arms, there’s a bomb timer that features a lightup effect, as well as interchangeable shoulder cannons—one damaged and one functional.

The statue includes four distinct portraits. The traditional mask, a concept mask, a closed mouth version, and a roaring mouth version are offered, along with display stands for showcasing them effectively.

Where I think they could improve is by reducing empty space on the base. Filling some of this space creatively could make the display easier and more visually appealing.

Despite a few negatives regarding wasted base space, I give the design a solid 4 out of 5 due to its creativity and execution.

    Paint and Sculpt

Moving onto the intricacies of paint and sculpt, Prime 1 Studio excelled with the detailing on this statue. The roaring portrait features excellent paint application, highlighting the character’s veins, teeth, and texture of the mandibles. The realistic paint application, especially on its body and armor, is commendable.

One downside noted was the blades’ resin material that doesn’t fully capture the essence of being fierce and rugged. Still, the anatomy and proportions are fantastic, reminiscent of the character we love.

I give the paint a 4 out of 5 for its impressive detail, while the sculpt deserves a 5 out of 5 for its impeccable execution.

    Value

With regard to value, the City Hunter comes in several versions with the second-highest being $ 3,500 and limited to 150 pieces. Each version adds varying display options, and Prime 1 Studio seems to cater to serious collectors more with fewer total pieces made compared to previous releases.

To sum it up, while $ 3,500 stands as a hefty investment, I believe you receive significant value given the quality. With this piece’s potential for resale and desirability, I give the value a 4 out of 5.

    X Factor

The X Factor score looks at the appeal of the piece, and this statue truly shines. Its immense scale and visual intensity guarantee it earns a perfect score: 5 out of 5.

In conclusion, the City Hunter Predator statue stands out as a must-have for serious collectors. Now I’m preparing to compare it with the Jungle Hunter Predator, so don’t forget to like this video, subscribe to my channel, and leave a comment below—especially your favorite Predator movie for a chance to win a statue!
