HOW MUCH YOUTUBE PAID ME | my first month monetized with 1,800 subscribers

People & Blogs

Introduction

It's Friday, March 22nd, and it's officially been one month since I got monetized on YouTube with only 1,800 subscribers. I figured today would be a great day to share how much YouTube paid me in my first month being monetized.

While many growth accounts post pay transparency regarding how much they earn from YouTube, I want to provide insights specific to my experience as a smaller creator who doesn’t post growth tips. If you’re new to my channel, hi, my name is Eileen, and I'm a certified Pilates instructor from Miami. None of my videos have gone viral, yet I achieved monetization relatively quickly. My most viewed video to date has around 12,000 views, which, while not insignificant, isn't massive in the broader scope of YouTube.

The Journey to Monetization

I'll tell you exactly how much I earned in my first month as a monetized creator, but first, I want to share my story and my purpose for starting this channel. If you're clicking on this video, you're probably curious about a smaller creator's earnings or where to begin if you're looking to start your own channel. Perhaps my perspective will give you some insight.

I started this channel back in 2007, originally posting concert videos as a huge Jonas Brothers fan. I later began creating more serious video content in 2022, after transitioning from digital marketing to becoming a Pilates instructor. Initially, I lacked direction and only posted sporadically, but I found my passion for creating videos and began to post regularly every week since October 2022.

I run my Pilates studio and work as a social media manager, sharing my life as an entrepreneur. The point of this journey isn't just about monetization for me; it's about the joy of sharing what I love. I've been deeply interested in analytics and have background experience in digital marketing, which has been an asset for understanding my audience and my analytics without becoming overly obsessed.

From October until now, I've posted 26 videos, generated 59,400 views, acquired 3,800 watch hours, and gained 1,200 subscribers. I got accepted into the YouTube Partner Program on January 15, 2024, after meeting the 3,000 watch hours requirement.

It's worth mentioning that my first day of monetization was February 23, 2024, and I earned a surprising $ 0.55, which at the time I considered impressive—much higher than my expectations going in. Over the next month, my highest earning day was $ 7.45.

In total, from the day I was monetized through March 20, I generated 9,800 views, 889 watch hours, gained 253 subscribers, and earned a total of $ 11.59 during that time.

This amount reflects a growing channel and shows that it's possible to generate earnings even without viral content.

It’s essential to understand that channels with significantly more subscribers may earn less than I did this month, and vice versa; earnings can vary greatly based on a multitude of factors.

I want to stress that your passion for your subject will resonate with viewers. I post videos not with the hope they'll go viral but to help fellow Pilates instructors and to create lasting memories in my entrepreneurial journey. My purpose isn't centered around money since I turn off mid-roll ads for my free Pilates classes to ensure the viewer experience remains intact.

The true drive should stem from passion, fulfillment, and helping others rather than solely financial gain. When you find deeper meaning in what you share, success follows naturally. Anyone can create content; what sets you apart is your unique story and perspective.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I hope you found this article insightful. If you're considering starting your own YouTube channel, just hit record and share what you love. You might just inspire someone else along the way.
