How to Change Subtitles Language on YouTube
Education
Introduction
Welcome to Artists in School! My name is Paul Priestley, and I’m excited to share with you how to make the most out of the art history videos available on YouTube, especially for those who may not speak English. One remarkable tool YouTube offers is the ability to enable subtitles, which can be automatically translated into various languages. This facilitates a global understanding of the content.
Steps to Change Subtitles Language
Start By Selecting Subtitles:
- Begin by clicking the subtitles button located at the bottom of the video screen. This button will generate subtitles in English, providing an accurate transcription of my spoken words.
Access Settings:
- Once you have clicked on the subtitles button, proceed to click the Settings button next to it. A menu will appear, with several options.
Enable Auto Translate:
- In the Settings menu, click on the “Subtitles” section. A new menu will pop up where you should select “Auto-Translate.”
Choose Your Language:
- After selecting Auto-Translate, you will be greeted with a comprehensive list of languages that YouTube can translate the subtitles into. For example, if you wish to watch the video in Dutch, simply click on the Dutch option. Your subtitles will immediately be translated, allowing you to follow along in your preferred language.
Thank you for exploring this feature with me! It truly is a simple and effective way to enjoy videos in your own language, making art history accessible to audiences everywhere.
