Understanding AI Prompts

First things first, let's define what is called an AI prompt. A prompt is essentially you telling your AI bot exactly what you want it to do. For you to be able to get the best out of each AI software you want to use to generate your images, you need to be fully aware of what it can and cannot do.

Today, we are going to use one prompt to generate different images across different applications. Once you've seen the differences, you'll understand what I mean when I say take time to understand what your AI software is capable of and not capable of doing.

Crafting the AI Prompt

To start off, I've got a list of prompts that I want to experiment with. Essentially, what I want to do is create a hyper-realistic African woman. So, what I'm going to do here is just copy and paste this prompt:

Create a hyper-realistic African woman wearing a leather jacket and white top, give her long blonde hair, long lashes, long nails with polish, and gold hoop earrings against a backdrop of New York City lights.

Let's test this prompt across various AI image generators.

Testing AI Generators

Adobe Firefly

Adobe Firefly is one of my favorite apps. I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit most of my videos, so I'm very familiar with the Adobe ecosystem and I enjoy using it a lot.

  • Results:
    • Hyper-realistic: Yes
    • Blonde hair: Yes
    • Gold hoop earrings: No (pendant earrings instead)
    • Leather jacket: Yes
    • White top: Yes
    • Long lashes: Yes
    • Long nails: No
    • Background: Yes (New York City lights)

You can further customize the prompts and settings in Adobe Firefly, such as aspect ratio, image content type, vivid intensity, and more.

Microsoft Bing

Next up is Microsoft Bing, another favorite of mine.

  • Results:
    • Hyper-realistic: No
    • General detail: Acceptable (blonde hair, gold hoops, long nails, leather jacket, white top, and New York Lights background)

MidJourney

Now, let's test with MidJourney.

  • Results:
    • Hyper-realistic: Yes
    • Detail: High (long blonde hair, long lashes, gold hoop earrings, leather jacket, white top)
    • Issues: Minor rendering issues like teeth color, no long nails visible

Crayon

And now let's see what Crayon generates.

  • Results:
    • Hyper-realistic: No
    • Detail: Poor (blurred images, incorrect hair color and style, no hoop earrings, no white top)

Canva AI Image Gen

Finally, let's test Canva’s AI image generator.

  • Results:
    • Hyper-realistic: Almost
    • Detail: Good (blonde highlights, gold hoop earrings, New York City lights, leather jacket, white top, cute nails)

Creating the Talking Avatar

To create our talking avatar, we will use the software in Canva called DID.

  1. Access DID:

    • Go to apps and type in DID.
  2. Using Your Image:

    • You can use your own images or the existing avatars that come with the app.
  3. Configuring Voice and Script:

    • Upload your own audio or use text-to-speech.
    • Configure language, voice type, and style.
  4. Generate Video:

    • Follow through the steps, and you will have a talking avatar video.
