Here is a step-by-step guide to help you create free animated videos using Leonardo AI.

Step 1: Sign Up and Explore

Before diving into the creative process, you need to sign up, create a free user account, and log in to the Leonardo AI website. Upon logging in, you'll notice a variety of main Leonardo items listed at the top of the site. The recently added "motion" feature is highlighted with the word "new."

You can also scroll down a bit to the recent creation section of Leonardo AI, where you'll find a new motion button. Clicking on it will showcase all the works created with the image-to-motion service.

Step 2: Generate an Image

To animate an image, you first need to generate it. Click on the image generation button located in the left panel. On the image generation page, type your prompt into the prompt box.

For this guide, I already have a prompt that I will paste into the box. Next, select a model that suits your image by clicking on the "fine-tuned model" button. I chose the Leonardo Vision XL style model.

Don't forget to enable the prompt magic option, as it significantly enhances the quality of the generated images.

Each free account is allocated 150 tokens daily, which can be used for generating a substantial number of photos and videos. You can select the number of output images you want in the "number of images" section; I opted for two images. Scroll down further to pick the aspect ratio for your image from the various options available.

Once you're satisfied with all your settings, click the generate button. As you can see, 16 tokens were deducted from my credit. After a short wait, the tool generated impressive images based on my prompt.

Step 3: Animate Your Images

Now it's time to animate your images. Click on the personal feed button, where you can see the history of all items you've generated. Select the image you want to animate.

Click on the image to motion button. You'll be presented with options like "motion strength," which determines the amount of motion added to the original image.

Click the generate button, which will cost you 25 tokens. Shortly after, the tool will convert your still image into a video. The results can be viewed both on the AI generate page and in the personal feed section.

You can download the animated video in MP4 format by clicking the download button.

Step 4: Animate Images Created by Others

You can also animate images generated by other users. Navigate to the main page of the Leonardo AI website and look under the recent creation tab. Select any image you find appealing and open it.

Again, click on the image to motion button. Adjust the motion settings to your preference and click the generate button. Your animated video will appear in your personal feed section.

This feature allows you to bring any image to life, adding an extra layer of creativity to your projects.
