How to Create Talking AI Avatar in 5 Minutes Using Free AI Tools

Welcome to this article where I'm going to show you how to create a talking animated Avatar like mine or make a photo talking using AI tools. You may have noticed that Channels with animated avatars are becoming very popular on YouTube and other platforms these days. Like those channels, in this article, I'm going to walk you through the process step by step, so let's get started.

Step 1: Create an Avatar Character

The first thing we need to do is create an avatar character. There are many tools that can help us with that, such as MidJourney, Leonardo AI, or any other image generation tool. Today, I'm going to use Microsoft Bing Image Creator. It is a free and simple tool. Let me show you how it works.

  1. Write a Prompt: A prompt is a short text that describes what we want our image to look like. For example, I wrote: "a cool cartoon female character with headphones on her head, wearing a mask, sitting at a desk, looking at the camera in front of her in an expensive cyberpunk recording studio space with a table in front of her, wearing cool clothes."

  2. Generate Avatar: Go to the Microsoft Bing Image Creator website, paste your prompt into the text box, click on "Create," and wait for a few seconds. You will then have your avatar. You can click on "Create" again for more options or tweak your prompt if needed.

  3. Download Image: Once you have the perfect image, click on "download" and save it to your device. You also need a background image, which you can create using a similar prompt.

Step 2: Modify the Avatar Image and Background

Now we're going to modify the Avatar image and background to make them look better using Canva.

  1. Setup Canvas: Go to canva.com, click on "Create a design," choose "Custom size," and input 3840x2160.

  2. Upload Images: Upload the avatar image and the background image that you selected earlier.

  3. Edit Photos: Drag the Avatar image to the canvas, click on "Edit photo," and choose "BG remover."

  4. Add Background: Drag the background image to the canvas, right-click, and select "Send to back" to place it behind the Avatar image layer. Adjust the size of everything as needed.

  5. Add Elements: To make the image more realistic, go to "Elements" in Canva and search for items like a desk, laptop, speaker, etc. Drag these to the canvas and adjust their size, position, and layer order.

  6. Save Design: Once everything looks good, click on "Share" and download the final image.

Step 3: Make Avatar Photo Talking

This is the final step where we make the Avatar photo talk. There are two methods to do this:

First Method: Using Talking Heads

  1. Generate Talking Head: Go to the Talking Heads website, click on "Generate Talking Heads," and select "Upload your own photo." Choose the image that you want to make talk.

  2. Add Audio: You can either upload your own voice or use AI text-to-speech technology like 11 Labs for better quality. Generate your audio file, return to Talking Heads, and upload the audio.

  3. Render Video: After selecting your avatar and uploading the audio, click on "Generate Talking Heads" and wait for the rendering process.

  4. Enhance Video Quality: Use tools like vake video enhancer to improve video quality and remove watermarks using video editing software by adjusting the size of the photo.

Second Method: Using Hagen

  1. Setup Hagen Account: Create a new account on Hagen using your email.

  2. Upload Avatar: Click on "Photo Avatar," select "Upload talking photo," and choose your avatar image.

  3. Create Video: Click on "Create video," select "Landscape," click on "Photo Avatar" again and choose the half-body option. Pick a voice from the available options and type your script.

  4. Export Video: Once satisfied with the voice, click submit, wait for the video to process, and download the highest quality version. Remove watermarks if necessary using video editing software.
