How to Cut a Video
Cutting or trimming parts of a video can be quick and easy with Clipchamp. Follow these step-by-step instructions to efficiently remove sections and refine the start and end of your video.
Getting Started
- Head over to Clipchamp: Visit clipchamp.com and log in or create a free account. Find the link for convenient access in the video description below.
- Accessing the Editor: Post login, you'll be directed to the homepage. Click on the Create a new video button to enter the editor.
Importing and Placing Your Video
- Import Your Clip: Click on the Import Media button, select your video file, and click Open.
- Add to Timeline: Once uploaded to your media library, simply drag and drop your video into the timeline.
Cutting Sections from the Middle of a Video
- Identify the Section to Cut: Move the seeker to the start of the unwanted section. For instance, if it’s around the middle of your video.
- Split the Video: Click on the scissors icon to make a cut. Move the seeker to the end of the section you want to remove and click the scissors again.
- Remove the Section: Click on the highlighted section to select it, then press Delete on your keyboard.
- Close the Gap: Hover over the created gap and click the trash can icon to delete the gap.
Trimming the Start or End of Your Video
- Trim the Start: Click on the video in your timeline. Hover your cursor over the start of the video and drag the handle to the right to cut away the desired portion.
- Trim the End: Hover over the end of the video and drag the handle to the left to remove the unwanted section.
- Precise Trimming: For precision, drag the seeker to the exact point you wish to trim, click the split icon, and delete the excess part of the video.
Exporting Your Edited Video
- Exporting the Video: Once satisfied with your edits, click on the Export button and select your desired video quality.
- Save to Device: Upon completion of the export, hit Save to your computer to download the video to your device.
