Entertainment

Introduction

Creating professional-looking videos from scratch can be an intimidating process, often requiring expensive and complex software with steep learning curves. However, with VEED, this is not the case. VEED makes creating video content simple and accessible to everyone, even if you've never edited a video before. You might be surprised by just how easy it is to create eye-catching results. The best part? You don’t need to download any software because VEED operates entirely within your internet browser, which means you can access and edit your projects from any device at any time.

My name is Ryan, and during this course, we are going to edit a simple video together while you learn how to use all the basic features within the entire VEED workspace. This includes how to record, cut, and edit, add effects, audio, and transitions, as well as exporting and sharing your video in a way that works for you. We will also explore some of VEED's other tools powered by AI, such as automatic subtitles, drag-and-drop elements, templates, and more. So, if you're ready to start making professional-looking videos effortlessly, it's time to get started.

Getting Started with VEED

To begin, sign up for a free basic license with VEED, or choose from a variety of different packages to suit your needs with both annual or monthly payment plans. Once you’ve signed up and logged in, you’ll be taken into your VEED workspace. VEED is not just an online video editor; it is an all-encompassing content creation suite where you can record videos, utilize templates, and even live stream to your audience.

In your workspace, you can find all your active files from projects, templates, video recordings, and live streams. You can also invite collaborators into your workspace to create videos as a team. You can do this by selecting the invite icon at the top of the screen and adding an email address into the text box. To keep your workspace organized, you can create folders to store your projects in a way that makes sense for you. Over in the left-hand toolbar, you can also access your brand kit, which allows you to add custom assets that you or your business need regularly, including custom fonts, color palettes, audio, video, and images.

Creating a Project

VEED offers you all the tools you need to create many different styles of video, and you can get started in a variety of ways. You don't even need to have any footage recorded. By selecting “New Video” then “Create a Project,” you will see a menu full of options for getting started. The first main option is to start with a blank project, where you can upload an already recorded file, start with a completely blank canvas, or record a video directly with your webcam. You can also open up pre-uploaded elements from your brand kit, Dropbox, or YouTube. There is also an option to browse and search the VEED stock footage and audio library to create a video without filming anything at all.

The second option is to create a project by using a template. VEED has hundreds of different styles of templates to choose from across various categories and themes, including different sizes or aspect ratios depending on the use case. For this example, I will upload a pre-recorded video file from my desktop and hit open, which will take us straight into the VEED video editor.

Place the playhead where you want to make your first cut, then click "Split." To remove the mistake, select the unwanted section and hit delete. You can also trim footage from the front and back by clicking and dragging the element edges.

Adding Effects, Filters, and Transitions

Effects and filters can drastically improve the storytelling aspect and production value of your videos. After uploading and editing some clips, adding smooth transitions and video filters is straightforward. Go to the "Transitions" tab and drag a transition effect into the timeline between clips. Similarly, in the "Filters" tab, apply color grading and other effects.

Adding Text and On-Screen Elements

Customizing your video with on-screen text and elements can provide better context for your audience. Click on the "Text" icon to choose from various text styles. Once added, customize it in the edit window. Similarly, use the "Elements" tab to add shapes, images, emojis, and other elements. Position, resize, and animate these elements to fit your video’s look and feel.

Adding Subtitles

Subtitles can aid understanding and improve video performance on social media. To add subtitles, go to the "Subtitles" tab, select "Automatic Subtitles," choose the language, and let VEED’s AI transcribe your video. You can manually edit any errors or customize the style of the subtitles. Subtitles can be repositioned and the timing adjusted as needed.

Adding Music and Audio

Music can set the tone and pacing of your video. The "Audio" tab allows you to upload, record your voice, or choose from stock audio tracks. Adjust audio levels, clean audio quality with AI, and manage the timing within the timeline.

Export and Share Your Video

Once your video is ready, export by selecting "Export" in the top right and choosing your preferred export setting. You can also invite team members to collaborate by using the "Invite" option at the top. After exporting, the video will be securely hosted on VEED's platform, where you can review and share it. You can change privacy settings, get links for sharing, post directly to social media, or embed on websites. Comments and notes can also be enabled for team collaboration.

Optimizing for Different Platforms

Different social media platforms require varying video formats. VEED allows for resizing of video projects even after editing. Go to the "Settings" tab and select a different aspect ratio suitable for the platform you are targeting.

Templates are a quick way to create professional-looking videos. In the main workspace, selecting "Templates" will open a library of options sorted by category and size. Customize any template to fit your needs by replacing elements and adding new footage.
