Introduction
If you're looking to export your After Effects project as an .MP4 file, you've come to the right place! In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to render your composition in the .MP4 format using Adobe Media Encoder.
Steps to Export Your Composition
Prepare Your Composition
Make sure your composition is ready for export.Access Adobe Media Encoder
Unfortunately, you cannot directly add to the render queue for .MP4 files in After Effects. Instead, you need to navigate to the menu bar, click on Composition, and then select Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue. This action will launch Adobe Media Encoder.Adjust Settings in Media Encoder
Once Adobe Media Encoder is open, you'll see your composition listed with a default .MP4 format. There are a couple of benefits to using the .MP4 format. You can click on Match Source - High Bit Rate, which will open new settings. Here, you can adjust the width and height of your composition as needed.Set the Target Bitrate
If you want to change the file size of your output, scroll to the bottom of the settings panel. For example, if you set a target bitrate of 10 Mbps, the estimated file size will be around 12 megabytes. By reducing the target bitrate to around 5 Mbps, you can almost halve the file size.Choose Export Location and Start Rendering
Once you're satisfied with the settings, click OK to save them. You can then click on the output file link to determine where you would like to save the final exported file. When you're ready to get started, click the Play button in Adobe Media Encoder to begin the rendering process.
