Introduction
Welcome back! In this article, I'll guide you through the process of creating a famous edit using Adobe After Effects. Due to licensing restrictions, I’ve blurred some parts and removed the original song, but you can find the complete edit on my YouTube channel. This breakdown isn’t a step-by-step tutorial; rather, it’s a comprehensive overview of how I created each part of the edit. If you want the project file, it’s available for free in the description below.
Getting Started
Create a New Project: Start by creating a new project with a composition size of 1080x1080 and a frame rate of 60.
Import Assets: Import three key elements:
- Your chosen song
- A scene pack
- A PNG image of your title
Select and Import Song: Choose the desired part of the song for your edit. You have two options to sync your visuals with the audio:
- Manually listen for beats and press the 'B' key.
- Automatically convert audio to keyframes by selecting both channels, using Keyframe Assistant, and visualizing the beats in the graph.
Setting Up Clips for Voice
Select Audio Clips: Choose the segments where the voiceover occurs and ensure the clip size fits the screen.
Cut and Position: Cut each scene appropriately and adjust their positions. Enable smooth keyframing options to ensure fluid transitions.
Pre-composition: Pre-compose each clip and add the Twixtor effect. Make sure to copy the frame rate from your scene pack.
CC Effect: Add the Creative Cloud (CC) effects (available for free in the description).
Zooming Effects
Create New Clips: For the zoom effects while characters talk, create a new clip lasting one second. Mute this clip and adjust its position.
Pre-compose: Pre-compose this clip and apply the previous effects.
Twixtor Speed Adjustment: Adjust the speed settings. Initially set it to 30, then animate it in a "fast-slow-fast" pattern.
Add Transitions: To make smoother transitions, animate opacity using white solid layers and ease into and out of the effect using custom graphs.
Text Animation
Adding Text: Add your desired text and select the appropriate size (e.g., 35 for scale) using the Arial Bold font.
Text Settings: Use the effects ‘Deep Glow’ and ‘Drop Shadow’ to enhance text visibility.
Animate Text: For animation, apply ‘Fade Up Words’ and manage animation speeds based on voice cues.
Text Tracking: Adjust tracking with settings like 40 to 6 to create a visually appealing layout.
Inverted Text: Use the arrow function to create inverted text designs.
Color Shift: Duplicate the text layer, change opacity, and apply gradient effects.
Logo Animation
Import Logo: Import your logo and pre-compose it.
Apply Effects: Similar to text, add effects like ‘Deep Glow’ and ‘Drop Shadow’ to your logo.
Animation Settings: Animate the opacity and play with size and speed to ensure it feels integrated into your edit.
Conclusion
By following these steps, you’ll have all the necessary techniques to create your own edits. Don’t forget, you can download my project file for free from the description.
