Howto & Style
Introduction
In this article, I'll show you how to resize videos for TikTok using a free video editing app called CapCut. This guide is applicable to various devices including phones and tablets. Let's dive into the step-by-step process.
Step 1: Close TikTok
First, close the TikTok app on your device.
Step 2: Download CapCut
Next, open the Play Store or App Store and search for the CapCut app. Download and install it.
Step 3: Open CapCut and Create a New Project
Once CapCut is installed, open it and tap on "New Project." Select the video you wish to resize and tap on "Add" in the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Select the Ratio
After the video loads into the project, make sure the video is unselected by tapping the back button on the bottom left if necessary. Scroll along the bottom navigation bar and tap on "Ratio" or "Format." Choose the 9:16 ratio suitable for TikTok.
Step 5: Resize the Video
Select the video in the timeline by tapping on it. A green outline will appear in the video preview screen. Use pinch gestures to resize the video, making sure there are no black areas at the top or bottom.
Optional: Add a Background
If you don't want to fully resize the video to fill the screen, you can add a colored background. To do this, press the back button in the bottom left, scroll along the bottom navigation bar, and tap on "Canvas." Choose a color or blur effect for the background. Adjust the size of the video as needed.
Step 6: Save and Export
Once you're satisfied with the video, tap on the save button in the top right corner to export it. You can either share directly to TikTok from CapCut or save it to your camera roll. If saved to the camera roll, open TikTok, tap on the post button, and select your resized video.
