Introduction
Say Goodbye to Complex Video Editing Tools
We've made video creation simple for everyone by packing our library with thousands of templates, stock videos, animated graphics, and music tracks. Let's explore what it's like to work with video and audio in Canva.
Getting Started with Video
New Video and Template Categories
Start by creating a new video. You'll find various video template categories to choose from. Stick with the standard video size to get started.
The Video Timeline
When editing video and audio, you’ll use the video timeline instead of pages to visualize your project. This black line and triangle, called the playhead, shows what will be on the screen at a particular time. You can drag it to fast forward or rewind your preview.
Begin with a template or start dragging content into your design. Choose a template and customize it as you like.
Customizing Your Video
Adding Videos from the Library
Duplicate a scene to add a new video. Access Canva's video library from the elements tab and add the videos tab to your sidebar. Search for a video and drag it to the background. Trim the clip by dragging the edges of the scene in the timeline.
Uploading Videos
Click the uploads tab, then “upload media” and “device” to upload your own file. The uploaded file will be saved in the uploads tab for future use. This also works for audio files.
Recording Directly
Record Yourself
Use your computer's built-in camera and microphone to record yourself. You can pause and resume the recording as needed. The final recording is saved in the uploads tab.
Cool Animations and Transitions
Animating Elements
Click any element, then “animate” in the toolbar to see page and text animations. Page animations apply to all elements, whereas text animations affect only the selected text element.
Adding Transitions
Add a transition between scenes by choosing one from the variety available. This enhances the flow of your video.
Adding Music
Searching for Audio
Use the elements tab to search for audio. Drag your selected track into the timeline to add it to your video.
Final Preview and Download
Play back the video to preview the entire project. Once satisfied, download it as an mp4 video.
Final Step
Now you’ve mastered video creation with Canva! Download your project and share it with the world.
