Introduction
One question I see a lot is how does Compressor work with Final Cut Pro X? In this article, I'm going to show you how easy it is to use Compressor and why it can save you a lot of time.

Compressor is not a must-have tool, but it saves me a ton of time. What I can do is when I edit a video on Final Cut Pro X, I just go to File > Send to Compressor
. What that does is it takes the file and sends it over there, so I can shut down Final Cut Pro, and edit something else. Then, I take this one file in Compressor and make multiple copies with it.
Here's an example of how I use Compressor. So here's a video I just did with an interview with Owen Video. If you want to check it out, I'll put a link in the description. I've edited the video right here. Well, I want a version for YouTube and Facebook, and maybe even strip it out for a podcast. Rather than do all that, yes, I can go up here and do a destination, but then that can take time. So I go up here to File > Send to Compressor
.
So now, Compressor is open. You notice right there, there's the video "Owen Video." I've already got these presets—you can make them. There are a lot of different things in here you can do. A lot of these I don't use, but you can. All I do is I take and drop the YouTube preset on here, and you can go in and change any of these settings at any time. I drop Facebook on here, and now let's just say I also want to do an audio format mp3 that I could use for a podcast.
Check this out. Each one of these has its own settings you can change, but I've already done that. I hit Start Batch
, and just like that, it's going to make three different versions of one video. You can even go to this screen, and it will show you what's happening and how long it is taking.
And just like that, it's going to make three different versions optimized for different platforms with one video, and I'm done.
If you want to know more about Compressor, there's a link down in the description where you can check it out. It's about $ 50, but I love it and use it all the time.
Hey, I hope this helps you make an impact in the world by making video. I'm Kevin, thanks for stopping by.
