How to Use Microsoft Copilot AI - Tutorial for Beginners

Education

Introduction

Welcome to this tutorial on how to use Microsoft Copilot. Microsoft Copilot leverages the latest chat GPD AI model under the hood and offers more features that are not even available in ChatGPT. The best part is that it is free! In this video, I'll show you how to use it.

Quick Demo

The very first step is to open your browser and type in copilot.microsoft.com. You can use Copilot without an account; however, to use the conversation history and plugins, you'll need to sign up for a Microsoft account if you don't already have one. Once signed in, you'll see this interface:

  1. Conversation Styles: You can choose from three conversation styles:

    • More Creative: Comes up with fun and imaginative ideas, great for making pitches, writing songs, and telling jokes.
    • More Balanced: Gives helpful answers that are interesting to read, balancing creativity with accuracy.
    • More Precise: Provides smart and accurate responses, focusing on getting things just right.
  2. Using Copilot: You can pick a suggestion or start asking Copilot questions using the box in the middle. You can also download the app for Android and iOS by clicking on the "Try the App" button.

  3. New Topic: To start a new topic, click on the "New Topic" button. You can use your microphone and also attach images.

  4. Copilot GPTs and Conversation History: On the right side, you have options for specialized GPTs such as Designer, Vacation Planner, Cooking Assistant, and Fitness Trainer. There is also a plugin section—my favorite plugin is "Sunu," which I'll show you how to use in a second.

  5. Upgrading to Copilot Pro: You can upgrade to Copilot Pro, which costs about $ 20 a month. Upgrading gives you:

    • Priority Access to GPT-4 Turbo during peak times for faster performance.
    • Access to Copilot in select Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
    • Ability to generate unique images and enhance your creations using 100 daily boosts with Designer.

Checking out Designer

Let's prompt Designer with: "Create an image of a breathtaking landscape that features an ancient tree with a hidden door under a sky filled with stars and auras, hinting at a magical world beyond." The new Copilot has image editing capabilities where you can resize, use different styles such as pixel art, watercolor, block print, etc., and further enhance parts of the image using something called boosts. If you upgrade to Copilot Pro, you'll get 100 daily boosts.

Using Copilot with Edge Browser

If you use the Edge browser, you’ll have additional features with Microsoft Copilot, such as asking questions about any website you’re on, or having it summarize PDF documents and answer questions about them directly.

Creating Custom Songs

My favorite fun feature in Copilot is that I can have it create a custom song for me. You'll need to enable the Sunu plugin first. Go to plugins, click "enable," and create a new topic. I'll prompt it with: "Create an electronic hip hop song asking viewers to like, comment, share, and subscribe to Coding Money YouTube channel."

Here is the result:
