I Made a Reel in 3 Minutes with the REELS TEMPLATES feature on Instagram Reels! *full tutorial*

    blog thumbnail

    Introduction

In this tutorial, I will show you how to leverage the exciting new feature of Instagram Reels called templates. This feature is a game changer for anyone looking to create photo or video montage reels quickly and effortlessly. With templates, you can take inspiration from existing reels and easily insert your own clips, allowing for automatic adjustments in timing to fit the music or any other sound you choose.

In this article, I'm going to walk you through the exact steps I took to create a reel, which you can find linked at the end of this post. Feel free to follow along with your own clips!

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Instagram Reels Templates

    1. Find a Template: First, navigate to the reel you want to use as a template. If the creator has used the Instagram app to upload their reel and there's an option that says "Use Template" above their username, you can easily access it. If you don’t see that option, you can go to the audio used in that reel and find other reels with the same audio that might offer a template option.

    2. Select the Template: Tap on "Use Template" to start the process. This will set you up to replace the clips in the original reel with your own media.

    3. Add Your Media: After selecting the template, tap on "ADD media" to choose photos or videos from your camera roll. You can select multiple clips at once, making it faster and easier. Scroll through your images to select the ones you want to include, and you'll see how many you have left to add at the bottom of the screen.

    4. Generate the Reel: Once you have added all the desired clips, tap the white arrow at the bottom right corner. This will generate your reel by replacing the original media with your selections. Wait for it to load, and you'll see a preview of your new reel.

    5. Customize Your Clips: If you want to adjust done any part of your photos or videos, simply tap on each media item to see the adjustable box. For photos, positioning may not be as crucial, but for videos, you'll want to select which part of the video you want to display.

    6. Final Edits: Once you’re satisfied with your selections and arrangements, hit "done" and the arrow at the bottom right to proceed. From here, you have the option to edit further—add text, fine-tune your cover photo, and create captions.
