Recently, I found myself outside the post office, eager to pick up a package that my elderly mail carrier couldn't deliver due to its size. While I felt a touch of guilt, I couldn’t help but feel excitement building, as I suspected what was inside. Upon entering the post office, it was clear that the package was substantial.

If you've been following my channel, you're undoubtedly aware of my affection for the original Arturia Poly Brute synthesizer. It's a staple in my studio, and I’ve used it extensively on numerous projects. A while back, I had the privilege of demoing a prototype of the 12 Voice version and instantly fell in love. Recently, my friends Ben and Jeremy showcased some fantastic demos of the Poly Brute 12, and I found myself needing to create pitch demo pieces for a YouTube series about Warhammer 40K. With this in mind, what better way to break in a new instrument than by using it to create music?

The Magic of the Poly Brute 12

Finding instruments that spark creativity is rare, but the new Poly Brute 12 is one such gem. Expression is at its core, particularly with its polyphonic aftertouch and unique Mor feature that allows you to transition between patches seamlessly. This allows for extraordinary patch capabilities, especially with the extra voices.

One of the standout features is the ability to record movements using the morning pad. This feature allows for a new layer of sound manipulation that can result in unique and inspiring tones.

Another inventive idea is the F Touch system, which extends beyond standard velocity and aftertouch. In this mode, each key press influences multiple aspects of sound, such as filter cutoff, creating dynamic movements and flutters I've never encountered in a synthesizer before.

It's been exciting to spend late nights exploring these features, especially since I’ve recently felt overwhelmed by various projects. The Poly Brute 12 truly shines as an inspiring piece of gear, making the process of music creation incredibly enjoyable.

While the Poly Brute 12 is not necessarily designed for the average home studio owner—given its size and cost—I wanted to shift focus to accessibility in music creation. Recently, I discovered that Spitfire Audio is transforming their renowned LABS series of free instruments into a subscription model. For many aspiring musicians, access to free music-making resources has been pivotal in their journeys.

Feeling compelled to act, I decided to create a series of free instruments to counteract this shift. Thanks to the unwavering support of my patrons and industry connections, I can finally bring my vision to life. This endeavor isn’t just about creating instruments; it’s about sending a message: if I can do this as a solo creator, larger companies like Spitfire should strive for better alternatives.

Although I'm currently in deep financial waters—over $ 88,000 in the hole before launching my project—I'm undeterred. I believe those with the ability and resources have a responsibility to support others. Moving forward, you can expect to see more content focused on this initiative.
