Invideo AI 2.0 Update - Review and Tutorial

Education

Introduction

A while back, I made a review and tutorial about Invideo AI with the original version. Going in, I had kind of a bad taste in my mouth because of the numerous videos and promotions claiming you could type in what you want, click generate, and have a perfect video with no editing. That’s not true. Invideo does a lot of things and it can save you a lot of time, but let’s be honest – it doesn’t generate a perfect, ready-for-Prime-Time video in one click. It’s okay that it doesn’t.

That said, Invideo has updated to version 2.0. The new features include:

  • Up to 25,000 characters in your prompt box
  • Multiple speakers
  • Faster and more accurate AI prompt box beneath the video preview
  • Changing music for each chapter and adjusting voiceover speeds
  • More relevant stock images and videos
  • More subtitles
  • Crisper scripts
  • More transition overlay effects and a revamped music engine
  • Multilingual support in 55 languages

Let’s take version 2.0 for a test drive and see how it does. After logging into Invideo, you land on the main generation screen, defaulted to model V2.0. If you wanted to revert to the older version, you could select it from the dropdown menu. At the top, there's a freeform AI prompt box where you can give it a topic, language, and detailed instructions to generate content from. The workflows are now located at the bottom, including options for YouTube explainer, script to video, YouTube shorts, and more. If you need to clone your voice, simply click the designated button — no hunting for where and how to do that.

Creating a YouTube Short

I selected the YouTube shorts workflow. It requests a few fill-in-the-blanks:

  1. The pacing (e.g., fast-paced)
  2. The topic (e.g., fun facts about pet rabbits)
  3. The background music (e.g., fun and whimsical)
  4. The language (default: English)

Settings also include the choice of a narrator's voice and subtitle styles (e.g., karaoke style), along with an option for how much stock footage to incorporate. There's also a music library selection.

I generated a test video about rabbit fun facts. The script included:

  • Rabbits can purr like cats.
  • They have a 360-degree field of vision.
  • Rabbits can jump up to 3 feet high.
  • They eat their own poop (called psychotrop).

Upon preview, the video required some editing. I found misperforming media choices (e.g., 16x9 footage for a vertical video) and some audio pacing issues.

Editing Features

Invideo allows you to edit via an AI prompt box or go into a detailed script editor. Within the script editor, you can:

  • Adjust the text and narration speed
  • Replace media
  • Assign different speakers

Unfortunately, the multi-speaker feature didn’t always perform correctly, necessitating manual script edits to match the intended speakers.

An experimental video timeline editor is available, but its lacking waveform display makes it less useful for audio edits.

Exporting and Final Thoughts

After editing, the download panel offers several output options. I found some promo issues regarding instant video generation, but Invideo is a useful tool that can save time, especially for b-roll. The tool can aid in generating and organizing content effectively, but expect to spend time tweaking and customizing the output.
