Is AI The End Of Human Creatives?

Artificial intelligence (AI) has seen a dramatic surge in recent years, to the point where it is nearly impossible to distinguish between what is real and what is AI-generated. Whether we're watching something on television, in a movie, or on YouTube, the advancements in AI technology have made it increasingly challenging to discern authenticity. As a musician, I've been experimenting with AI over the past few months, and I'm continuously astonished by its capabilities. I wanted to see if I could input a couple of lines of text and have AI generate an entire song with lyrics, music, and a singer. Initially, I thought this was impossible and that we weren't anywhere near achieving such a feat. However, I was wrong—we are indeed there. I successfully did just that.

"Oaks and Mountain Heather, Fields beneath the skies," was the starting point. Following this, I wondered if I could get AI to generate a video to accompany the song or create a video that the song could accompany. Using basic and simple AI tools available for free on the internet, I embarked on this task. I randomly selected a couple of AI tools that were free and user-friendly. One of these was an image generator where you input a couple of lines of text describing the desired image, and then the AI creates images based on that text. I then uploaded some of these images to another free AI program that turns still images into video clips.

I incorporated a few of my own video clips, such as a snippet of drone footage and personal photos of me and my wife. I assembled everything using the trial version of Final Cut Pro, which is free, to generate an AI-created video. Although the final video isn't absolutely incredible, this is because I only used basic free tools and did not make any manual adjustments to the AI-generated images and clips. What stands out most about this video is the music track itself. I found a free AI music generator and typed in text requesting a dreamy, emotional song about the Scottish Highlands, with camping beside a loch in the mountains, sung by a female in a folk-pop style.

The AI generated the lyrics, the title, all the music, and even the vocals. The only edit I made was chopping off the very end, which was a bit strange, and then dropping it into the trial version of Final Cut Pro, adding it to the AI-generated pictures and video clips. The entire process took only a couple of hours, with most of that time spent waiting for the AI tools to generate a 5-second video clip from a still picture. Had I used my own video clips, the entire process would have taken mere minutes.

Below is the final AI-generated video, lasting about four minutes. Let me know in the comments what you think of the lyrics, the video, and the overall process. After the video, I’ll have a little chat again.

Quite remarkable, isn't it? I'll include links to the three AI tools that I used to create this video and the music track. If there's enough interest, I can create a more in-depth video explaining how I did everything step by step. Let me know in the comments. Until the next video, cheerio!

FAQ

Q: Can AI really create an entire song with lyrics, music, and a singer?
A: Yes, AI technology has advanced to the point where it can generate a full song with lyrics, music composition, and even vocals based on text inputs.

Q: What AI tools did you use for this project?
A: I used a random selection of free AI tools that included an image generator and a program to convert still images into video clips. Additionally, I used a free AI music generator and the trial version of Final Cut Pro for assembling the final video.

Q: How long did the entire process take?
A: The process took a couple of hours, with the majority of the time spent waiting for the AI tools to generate a 5-second video clip from a still picture. Using my own video clips would have reduced the time to just minutes.

Q: How can I learn to do this myself?
A: If there's enough interest, I can create a detailed video explaining the step-by-step process, including the specific inputs and tools I used. Let me know in the comments if you would like a tutorial.

Q: Are advanced skills required to create such AI-generated content?
A: No, the tools I used are quite user-friendly and do not require advanced skills. Most of these tools are free and readily available on the internet.
