Let's Build an AI Landing Page in Figma
Education
Introduction
In this article, we're going to walk through the initial steps of creating an AI landing page using the Aora UI kit found on UI8. We'll use Figma, a popular design tool, to design the landing page, focusing on various elements such as layout, typography, and visual effects to achieve a premium look.
Setting Up the Framework
To begin, we'll create a frame specific for desktop use, setting the width to 1440 pixels—an ideal size for a desktop website. We'll rename the frame to "Landing Page" and adjust the background color to incorporate a dark tone. While the original design features a deep hue, we'll add a subtle blue tint to create a certain vibe and enhance the overall aesthetic. This is particularly important, as a plain dark color can feel flat and lifeless.
Adding Components and Features
Next, we’ll add our first element: the feature section, which requires a text component in Poppins, a free Google web font. We will set the font weight to semi-bold and slightly increase its size.
An essential step in any web design project is to include a layout grid. For our design, we'll use a 12-column grid and adjust its visibility by changing its color to a semi-transparent white. This layout will help us align elements accurately and maintain consistency throughout the design.
Now, we can include other necessary components like the pricing section, a circle divider, a logo, and several buttons. To manage the headers more effectively, we'll use Auto Layout in Figma. Auto Layout allows us to organize and adjust the spacing of elements together easily, ensuring a clean and consistent layout.
Refining Typography and Adding Buttons
We will be incorporating headers, subheadings, and action buttons. Each text layer is progressively edited for size, weight, and spacing to align with the original design. For action buttons, we copy styles from the original, utilizing strokes and gradients to create an embossed effect, which adds depth.
Next, we must design the section backgrounds, applying hero images and ensuring that they integrate perfectly with the typography and other elements. To enhance the design further, we'll add rounded rectangles with their gradients for a layered effect.
Incorporating Additional Sections and Icons
As we build more sections on the landing page, we will maintain visual differentiation by adjusting background colors, ensuring they contrast and create a visually appealing structure. Button components will be reused, following similar processes to maintain consistency, and we can also integrate appropriate icons sourced from various icon resources.
In creating the visual depth, we'll apply shadows and layers to elements according to the original design. Each detail contributes significantly to the final aesthetic of the design.
Conclusion
While we have covered many foundational elements, this is just the first part of our landing page. The nuances in design require patience and attention to detail, especially with sophisticated, skeuomorphic designs. As we prepare to wrap up for this session, it's essential to note that detailing is what turns an ordinary design into something extraordinary.
