Introduction

Hello, I'm Lauren! You may recognize me from my podcast, my new channel Barasa Body by Lauren, or my meditation series. Today, I want to discuss something a bit different. If you have a cup of tea or a glass of water, take a seat, and let's chat.

I’m thrilled to announce my new channel, a project that combines my extensive background in fitness with my passion for mindfulness and resilience. With over 40 years of experience as a personal trainer, I have learned that strength training is a cornerstone of my resilience. As many of you know, I've faced profound losses in my life, including the deaths of my parents and my brother, and the end of a marriage. Throughout these challenging times, my physical strength has been a powerful resource.

Returning to weightlifting after giving birth to twins, or after experiencing personal loss, didn’t resolve my grief, but it did offer me strength. I found that as I became physically stronger, my emotional resilience grew. The strength I nurtured in the gym would translate into my ability to adapt and grow through life's challenges. I’ve lifted weights since I was 17, using it as an outlet for my feelings of being different from others. It became a sanctuary where the noise of the world faded away, allowing me to discover who I was meant to be.

Now, as I prepare to marry the love of my life, I reflect on what I can offer you. While I have a meditation channel that will continue, I want to expand this to include a holistic approach to well-being encompassing physical strength. Having faced health challenges after my twins' birth, including an umbilical hernia and a form of sarcoidosis, I discovered that despite physical limitations, I could still experience the joy and empowerment of strength.

Physical strength is not just about lifting heavy weights. It encompasses mobility, flexibility, endurance, and the ability to care for ourselves. It's about seeing our bodies as powerful allies that help us navigate life. Exercise, especially strength training, dramatically impacts our mental health, emotional well-being, and overall vitality.

I hope to inspire you to join me on this journey of self-discovery through my new channel, which may soon be renamed to Lauren Smith. You can also find me on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Together, we’ll explore topics like body image, the joy of exercise, and the importance of mental strength.

Exercise has been my gateway to understanding myself, to fostering happiness. This channel isn't about appearance; it’s about reclaiming your essence and finding solace in who you truly are. I’ll be sharing workout videos, discussing body positivity, and perhaps even considering competing again in fitness challenges.

I invite you all to be part of this exciting journey with me. Let's navigate life together—this amazing, complex, joyful experience—and support one another in being strong physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
