Live Editing For My Client | Documentary Video Editing | Premiere Pro & After Effects Tutorial

Introduction

In just 24 to 30 hours since I posted this video, the impact on my newly onboarded client’s channel has been remarkable. While they previously struggled to gather views on Instagram, they've now experienced a significant surge in followers and views, all without any paid promotion. The date is August 9, 2024, and I want to discuss the techniques that can make videos go viral, especially for those keen on mastering this skill.

Introduction

My clients hail from a political background and required a documentary-style video that would effectively showcase their concerns. They provided the script but needed a voice-over, which I also completed. I've received inquiries about my video production rates, which I'll address at the end. Let’s dive into the editing process!

Step 1: Initial Visualization

Before diving into audio editing, I recommend a crucial exercise. First, close your eyes and listen to the audio—be it music or a voice-over—multiple times. This helps clarify the visuals that should accompany the audio. Jot down your thoughts, sketch ideas, and you'll find that this practice streamlines your production process in the long run.

Step 2: Animate the Map of India

For the documentary's introduction, featuring the phrase "Pasmana Muslim brothers of our country," I visualized an animated outline of India. In Adobe After Effects, import the geo layers, duplicate the relevant layer, and animate the map using stroke effects.

Step 3: Voice-over Integration

Next, we integrate the voice-over, specifically focusing on Pasmanda Muslims. For this, we hop back to After Effects, animate captions, and apply transitions smoothly. Dynamic motion enhances audience engagement.

Step 4: The Constitutional Aspect

The audio mentions Article 341 and its ramifications. To visualize this, I created an animated Constitution book page using the page turn effect and text layers in After Effects. Each image and graphic should be thoughtfully placed to maintain a cohesive narrative.

Step 5: Highlighting the Political Context

To portray the Congress party's influence and impact, I incorporated images of key figures and utilized overlays. I also employed motion blur to create a compelling transition between scenes, adding depth and realism to the documentary.

Step 6: Conveying Emotions Through Imagery

When depicting emotions, I used three types of images: happy, sad, and dark—ensuring that the audience feels connected to the narrative. Dark images provoke thought without revealing clear emotions, making the message even more profound.

Step 7: Text and Engagement

Incorporating text animations throughout the video helps maintain audience engagement. It synchronizes eye movement with audio, enhancing overall interest.

Step 8: Showcasing Data and Statistics

The audio mentions statistics about political representation for Muslims, which I illustrated using dynamic text effects in After Effects. I created visual representations of these numbers, allowing the audience to digest the statistics without losing their interest.

Step 9: Personal Stories and Historical Context

Connecting personal stories and historical events lends power to the video. I used visually impactful images and transitions to create a strong narrative flow.

Step 10: Final Touches and Exporting

After compiling the visuals, voice-overs, and all graphical elements, I seamlessly transited to Adobe Premiere Pro for fine-tuning and exporting. With all necessary adjustments completed, the final video clocked in at approximately 1 minute and 44 seconds.

Rates and Conclusion

For this project, we agreed on a monthly package that includes approximately 15 videos to be delivered on alternate days, amounting to a total contract of ₹XXXX. Rates vary greatly based on video quality, client needs, and intended purpose. A high-quality production will naturally come at a higher cost.
