Master Animated Intros In Adobe Premiere Pro

In the past two years, I've mastered creating animated intros in Premiere Pro. Let's be super honest: in today's realities, if you can't make those smooth animated intros, you are basically behind. Your viewers will literally leave your video after 2 seconds. But first of all, my name is M, and I am here to help beginner editors become pros. Let's dive into the essential steps to mastering animated intros.

Transform Effect

The transform effect is the foundation of all the effects we will apply. Thanks to this effect, we can create a smooth blur around the object we want to move or scale. It is very simple, requiring just two clicks to apply it from the "F" folder. It is the simplest thing, yet very potent for a smooth introduction.

Background

A captivating background is also vital. No one wants to watch animations on a dark, boring background. You need to find a single-color background on the internet - such as full orange or full green, particularly one that is recognizable with your brand - and download it. Adding it to your clip only takes a minute or two, and it is well worth the time investment.

Smooth Zoom

Smooth zooms can draw your viewers into your project, making them feel as if they are inside your movie or film. To achieve this effect, use the transform effect you've applied previously. Uncheck the "Use Composition's Shutter Angle" button, set the shutter angle to 360° for the desired blur, and then select the keyframe next to the scale. Move ahead three or five frames, increase the scale, and voila! You now have a smooth zoom. Adjust the position of the zoom by modifying the position values accordingly. For a better understanding, check out one of my previous videos on keyframe animations.

Moving Items

Animating moving items is as simple as creating zooms. Instead of using scale keyframes, use position keyframes. Set your object as invisible by changing its position off the screen; click the keyframe, move ahead five frames, and adjust the position to place the object where it needs to be. If the object needs to move visibly, simply adjust the position from start to finish using keyframes.

Shaking Effect

To create a shaking effect, use the transform effect again. Apply the blur settings and add keyframes to the position attribute. Move ahead one or two frames and shift the position slightly, repeat this five times, then copy and paste the keyframes as needed. At the end, set the position back to its original keyframe.

Glow Effect

The glow effect is quick and simple. Copy the item to a new layer, apply the Gaussian Blur effect, set it to 60, and adjust the opacity to 60. That's it!

Shadow

For a shadow effect, apply the drop shadow effect and use the settings shown on your screen. It's straightforward and adds depth to your intro.

Sound Effects

Add sound effects like swooshes or whooshes to transitions or zooms to enhance the engagement. You don't need to search for these effects online. Simply join my Discord server and download the sound effects pack available there.

In conclusion, mastering video editing is about understanding how to achieve the desired effects, and there is always something new to learn and improve upon.

FAQ

Q1: What is the first effect to apply for smooth animated intros? A1: The first effect to apply is the Transform Effect. It helps create a smooth blur around the object you want to move or scale.

Q2: Why is the background important in animated intros? A2: A captivating background is important because it keeps the audience engaged. Boring dark backgrounds can detract from the animation, so use recognizable colors associated with your brand.

Q3: How can I create a smooth zoom effect? A3: Use the Transform Effect, uncheck the "Use Composition's Shutter Angle," set the shutter angle to 360°, and adjust the scale using keyframes.

Q4: How do I animate moving items in Premiere Pro? A4: Animate moving items using position keyframes. Adjust the object's position off-screen, then create keyframes to move it to the desired position over a few frames.

Q5: What steps are involved in creating a shaking effect? A5: Use the Transform Effect, apply keyframes to the position attribute, moving slightly every couple of frames, and repeat to create the shake. Copy and paste keyframes as necessary.

Q6: How can I quickly add a glow effect? A6: Copy the item to a new layer, apply the Gaussian Blur effect, set it to 60, and adjust the opacity to 60.
