Hey everyone! Grace here from Kapwing, and I’m excited to share some incredible new features we've recently rolled out in our editor that will significantly enhance your content creation workflow. These updates are designed to help you eliminate tedious editing tasks such as trimming silences and manually adjusting layers, allowing you more time for the creative aspects of storytelling. Let’s dive into the new features and see how they can empower your editing process.

Affiliate Program

While not a feature in the studio itself, our affiliate program lets you earn cash and Kapwing perks, such as free pro subscriptions and exclusive networking opportunities. SmartCut

One of the standout features this month is SmartCut. This tool automates the editing process by identifying and removing silences from videos with incredible efficiency. Imagine transforming raw footage of talking heads, tutorials, or recorded presentations into a rough cut in mere seconds! To use SmartCut, upload a video, click on it, and find the SmartCut option in the right-side menu. The editor highlights silences in red, allowing you to easily select and modify which sections you want to cut out. Once satisfied, click "Done," and watch as your video populates the timeline without any silent pauses!

Montaging

Next, we’ve introduced a major time-saving feature called Montaging. It allows you to convert multiple images into a slideshow by adjusting timings for all images at once. This feature is incredibly useful for creating photo slideshows or converting images into videos, which is ideal for TikToks and Instagram Reels. Just upload your photos, select them, and use the duration window to set how long each photo lasts. You can apply a uniform duration or customize timings for individual images as needed.

Image Drop Shadow

We’ve also expanded our effects toolbox with the Image Drop Shadow feature. Following the text drop shadow addition, you can now add depth to images, making them stand out in your projects. To employ this feature, upload an image, click it, and select the Drop Shadow effect found under "Effects" on the right side. Adjust the shadow color, distance, and blur to achieve the desired appearance. This enhances visual interest and elevates the overall aesthetic of your graphics.

More Icons & Shapes

We’ve now made thousands of free customizable shapes and transparent PNG icons available within Kapwing. This expanded collection includes essential elements such as logos, arrows, and UI shapes. You can find them in the Elements tab on the left side of Kapwing. These icons and shapes eliminate the hassle of searching elsewhere, allowing for easy customization right within the platform.

Color Picker

Kapwing now features a versatile color picker that unlocks a myriad of colors to enhance your designs. Adjusting color palettes is simple—click on an object, and explore through different shades and tints until you find the perfect match for your project. This feature is crucial for maintaining cohesive aesthetics throughout your images and videos.

Template Library

We’re excited to announce a new library of video and image templates that can save you time in content creation. Browse through various templates at kapwing.com/templates or within the editor by navigating to the “More” section. Starting with a template means you can edit graphics and text according to your needs without beginning from scratch.

Folders in Your Workspace

Lastly, we've revamped how you organize your projects by introducing Folders to your workspace. You can create as many folders as you need to categorize different project types, fostering better organization and collaboration. This change will pave the way for more features that emphasize teamwork in video editing.
