New RTM Discord Engage Bot

Introduction

We are excited to announce the introduction of a new bot called Engage in our Discord community. Currently, this bot aims to enhance community interaction by pushing tweets and possibly other social media content to our members. While the tweet collection is currently a manual process, we are actively working on automating this functionality. We expect to roll out this automation in the next few days.

The Engage bot is designed to reward community members for their interactions with the shared content. One of its key features is a leaderboard that tracks engagement points based on user interactions. This functionality is accessible via simple Discord commands, allowing us to monitor bot activity and member engagement more effectively.

This initiative is a result of discussions with community members, including Jeff Starer, who, a few months back, faced challenges finding a suitable solution for community engagement. With the Engage bot, we hope to address these challenges, and with some adjustments, we believe it will significantly benefit our community.

Currently, the bot is undergoing testing, with some features kept private until we refine them. Early feedback indicates that the bot is operational, and users are encouraged to link their Twitter accounts (now known as X) with the Engage bot. This will enable them to interact with the two tweets currently available in the Engage section of Discord.

In addition to facilitating interaction, we are considering introducing weekly rewards for engagement with social media posts, based on the points accrued on the leaderboard. For instance, commenting on a post would earn users 69 points, while simply liking a post would yield fewer points. This gamification approach will allow our community members to earn a bit of RTM for their efforts while contributing positively to the Raptoran project.
