New UX/UI Tools! – Microsoft New Font, Bye Adobe Xd, New AI Design Tool & More!

Howto & Style

Introduction

Welcome back to the channel! Today, we'll be exploring some of the latest and most exciting design tools, breaking design news, and a few incredible resources that I just discovered during my research for this article.

Wix's AI Design Tool

Surprisingly, Wix has launched its own AI design tool. This innovative assistant helps you build and design websites by asking a series of questions based on your preferences. By providing information about the website you wantto create, Wix will suggest designs, structures, and content based on your input. This AI tool even allows for detailed customization; you can modify font choices, swap images, and select preferred color palettes, with suggestions generated in real-time. One standout feature lets users adjust the professionalism of selected images—an unexpected but impressive addition. Though Wix is not typically known for design tools, this new AI offering positions it within the competitive AI design landscape, and in my opinion, it might even surpass Framer's AI.

Creative Tools with a K

Another resource worth checking out is Creative Tools with a K. This platform aggregates a wide variety of design-related resources, ranging from multimedia tools to educational courses. You can find useful applications like Spline, Figma, Jitter, and Canva, among others. The selection of free fonts is particularly impressive, providing links for easy downloads. The site also features color palette pickers, mock-ups, vectors, and icons, as well as courses and extensions—all designed to inspire creativity. It seems to be a passion project for a designer, and given that it's built in Framer, it's user-friendly and well worth exploring.

Microsoft’s New Font: Aptos

Microsoft has officially introduced a new font called Aptos, marking a significant departure from their previous official font, Calibri. Aptos has been designed from the ground up and is integrated across all Microsoft Cloud applications. While a direct download link isn’t available yet, users can start utilizing this new font in their graphics and presentations across Microsoft products. An informative article detailing the design process of Aptos can be found on Medium.

Adobe XD is No More

In disappointing news for many, Adobe XD is no longer available. Adobe decided to discontinue the tool in favor of Figma following their acquisition. Users who previously had Adobe XD as part of their subscription can continue using it, but no new downloads will be available, and support for the tool is being phased out. The Adobe XD webpage has also been taken down, redirecting users to a support page instead. Give a shout-out in the comments to show your respect for Adobe XD—RIP!

Discover Craft Works

I stumbled upon Craft Works, a unique website that offers a diverse collection of tools and inspiration for designers. It covers productivity tools, tech resources, development, marketing, UI design, and even app design. Users can save their favorite designs and submit projects for potential features, reminiscent of an older version of Dribbble but presented in an appealing manner.

Icon Buddy

For those in need of icons, check out Icon Buddy. This extensive library boasts over 100,000 icons available in various styles. The intuitive search function lets users quickly find what they’re looking for and offers customization options. You can export icons in formats like SVG, PNG, and WebP, making it a handy all-in-one resource for anyone seeking icons.

Building Your Own AI Tool with Mind Studio

Have you ever wanted to create your own AI tool without coding? UAI's Mind Studio enables you to do just that! Similar to platforms like Webflow, Mind Studio allows users to browse multiple templates built by the community, making it easy to remix and create tools tailored to their needs. Although it may come with a slight learning curve, there's an active community on Discord, ready to assist you.

Introducing Keep Design

Keep Design is another exciting design system that works across development platforms and design tools. It features a Figma file and is structured in a way that's developer-friendly. The system includes thousands of editable components and responsive designs, along with ready-to-use blocks for various functionalities.

Research Bookmark Beta

If you’re a UX researcher or designer, the Research Bookmark Beta is a treasure trove of resources. It compiles tools for various research tasks into one comprehensive platform. From A/B testing to a vast array of design tools, it offers a plethora of resources for any UX design needs. You can also find conferences, communities, podcasts, courses, and more.

Delhi Design Meetup

Lastly, if you’re in Delhi, we have an upcoming design meetup with limited seats available. Feel free to check the link in the description to register before it’s fully booked!

That’s all for today’s round-up. If you found this article useful, your thumbs-up and subscription would be greatly appreciated! Until next time, take care and happy designing!
