Reduce Video Size Using Your Phone without Losing Quality

A few days ago, I asked people to submit their channels for review. After reviewing the submissions, I found out that the video sizes were exceptionally large. As an example, here are the sizes of the review videos:

  • Review 1: 600 MB
  • Review 3: 400 MB
  • Review 4: 1 GB

In total, these videos summed up to approximately 4.5 GB. While I had previously created a video on how to compress videos using a laptop, I realized that many of you edit your videos using phones. Based on a poll I conducted on my community tab, it was clear that most of you needed a phone-based solution.

Thankfully, I remembered an app called FFmpeg, which effectively reduces video size without compromising quality. Let me guide you through the process step-by-step.

Step-by-Step Process to Reduce Video Size

  1. Download FFmpeg App:

    • Click on the link FFmpeg on Play Store to download the app.
    • After downloading, open the app and allow necessary permissions.
  2. Import Videos:

    • You need to import the videos one by one. Tap the designated button and select the videos from your internal storage. If unsure of a video’s location, go to your video player, long press the video, and check the information to find its location.
    • For demonstration, I’ll compress review videos 1, 2, and 4.
  3. Compress Videos:

    • Tap on the video you want to compress.
    • If you wish to add more videos, tap the green button, search, and add the next video.
    • After selecting all videos, initiate the compression by tapping the smallest button at the top.

Depending on your device's speed, this process may take some time. Upon completion, the compressed videos will be available in the "Download" folder rather than their original folder.

Size Comparison

  • Review 1:

    • Original Size: 600 MB
    • Compressed Size: 60 MB
  • Review 4:

    • Original Size: 1 GB
    • Compressed Size: 112 MB

Clearly, FFmpeg effectively reduces video sizes without requiring an internet connection.

For additional comparison, I compressed a video from my other channel:

  • Original Size: 21 MB
  • Compressed Size: 5 MB

Conclusion

If you need to compress videos using your laptop, you can watch the associated video available on screen. For questions, feel free to leave comments.
