Introduction
We are excited to announce the launch of RemNote 1.17, which comes packed with innovative AI features designed to enhance your learning experience by making it more efficient, effective, and enjoyable. In this release, we have introduced advancements in flashcard generation, AI tutoring, image-to-text conversion, grading, and much more. Let's dive into the new features!
AI-Generated Flashcards
You can now create flashcards on-the-fly from any text, PDF, or web page. To generate cards, simply paste your text in RemNote, highlight the desired sections, and click on the new "Create AI Cards" button. The flashcards will appear instantly, formatted as individual cards in your editor.
You can choose from several types of flashcards:
- Questions: Single-line prompts
- Multi-Line: Cards that span multiple lines
- Cloze: Fill-in-the-blank style
- Definitions: Such as "What is a mitochondrion?"
- Descriptors: Quick questions regarding specific topics
If you want only Cloze cards, simply uncheck the other options, and the system will automatically update the flashcards in real-time. Additionally, you can specify styles or focuses by typing in any changes you wish. Once satisfied, save the flashcards to use later.
Flashcard generation works with PDFs and web pages as well. For PDFs, upload your document using the “Create” option, select the text, and generate cards. For web pages, install the RemNote Clipper, select text, and generate cards seamlessly.
AI Tutor Chat
But what if you generate a card and need clarification? Enter the AI Tutor Chat, which resides directly within RemNote. The tutor has access to your current bullet and can guide you through explanations. Simply type "/explain" alongside any bullet, and the tutor will present a detailed explanation, including formulas, diagrams, and images. You can even ask questions based on these explanations for deeper understanding.
Image-to-Text Conversion
We have added a feature that allows the AI to convert images into text with a single click. If you paste an image, just select "AI Convert to Text," and the text will appear beneath it with proper formatting. This works seamlessly for handwritten notes, blackboard images, and even math equations.
The image occlusion feature has been significantly improved as well, allowing precise extraction of labels from images to create flashcards for testing.
AI Grading
Our AI grading system now enables you to type answers to flashcards and receive instant feedback based on your responses. Activate this feature from the three-dot menu. The AI assesses your input against the correct answers and provides helpful pointers for any mistakes.
Additionally, voice typing has been integrated for grading. Using Google Chrome, simply click the microphone and your spoken answer will be transcribed and graded automatically!
Flashcard Insights
We've introduced a new feature, Flashcard Insights, which delivers contextual information right on the back of your cards. Upon revealing the answer, you'll find explanations, timelines for historical dates, mnemonic aids for lists, and more. Making it easier to grasp broader context and details.
Tab Completion & Other Features
Tab completion has been improved to pull specific content from visible sections of any PDF. This enhancement ensures that generated answers are more relevant to your current context.
We are also offering Pro users 1,000 AI credits per month to fully utilize these features, along with the new Pro Plus AI plan for higher usage.
Additional Improvements
This release also includes many small refinements and enhancements, including a revamped all-notes page, a fast desktop updater, and various bug fixes to keep RemNote fast and stable.
