Ruto's Challenge: Gen-Z Youths Undeterred, Prepare for Tuesday Protest

A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the Kenya Kwanza regime, even after President William Ruto announced last week that a national dialogue forum will begin on Monday, the 15th of July, and run throughout the week. The aim of this forum is to unify Kenyans. Despite this, Gen Z convened a meeting through an online platform today to plan for a mega protest in Nairobi CBD under the hashtag #GroMustGo.

The youth are calling for new leadership to bring much-needed change to the country. They are emphasizing the careful selection of leaders this time, urging everyone to be smart as the education they have received may turn against them if not used wisely.

The younger generation has expressed their frustrations over the alarming discovery of dead bodies dumped at the Rubbish Hip Inquiry area, which sent shock waves across the country. This disturbing finding comes in the wake of 41 Gen Z protesters being killed by police while exercising their right to picket.

Despite the president's efforts to resolve government issues, the youth maintain there is no equity in his regime. There is a prevalent sentiment that the current government lacks representation and fairness. They are also demanding accountability to ensure transparency in fund allocation.

"We'll go to the county level, to the subcounty, ward, until the villages," the youth stated. Their list of demands includes the immediate firing of all government officials with criminal records and integrity issues, the reconstitution of the IBC within the next 30 days, and the employment of JSS teachers and intern doctors as previously pledged.
